Maestri House S1 Mini Espresso Coffee Scale with Timer, 2kg/0.1g

TLDR: Buy it. It works well, it has impressive and useful features, it looks great, it’s thin/low-profile, and it’s a great price. Detailed review: I’m very happy with this scale, and it has certainly upped my espresso game by leaps and bounds. I’m able to weigh my beans very precisely down to a tenth of a gram (roughly the weight of a single bean), so my dosing is on point. Also, it fits beneath the portafilter with room to spare for my cup, so I can weigh my shots and accurately measure my input/output ratio. And automatic mode is magic! When the espresso hits the cup, the timer starts running, so I can measure flow rate along with everything else! Overall, super easy to use and very necessary for the at-home barista. One caveat: It acted weird on the 2nd or 3rd day, and I thought I was going to have to return it. The weight would slowly creep up even though I wasn’t adding any coffee. I dusted it off, made sure it was dry, set it on a more stable surface… I still don’t know what the matter was, but it stopped freaking out and it hasn’t really given me any trouble since. Also, I should mention that the automatic function doesn’t always work 100% perfectly; it works, and usually works quite well, but depending on the flow rate, you might get some drops dribbling into the cup and the timer not detect it right away. (I think the timer must be activated according to some sort of algorithm that looks for a certain increase in a certain amount of time, so a slower initial drip rate might not trigger it at first.) Also weirdly, it seems like about half of the time when the weight stops increasing (i.e., espresso stops flowing) , the timer pauses (as I think it’s supposed to do), but other times, the timer keeps running until you manually stop it. I don’t know… It’s a weird glitch, I guess, but it doesn’t really make any difference. The weight is accurate, and that’s the primary thing to keep an eye on. So, is it perfect? No, I guess not. But, it works extremely well and functions perfectly for my purposes. In fact, it’s a lot nicer and fancier than I expected – plus, it’s more affordable and more streamlined than its obvious rival the Acacia.

I had a precision oxo which was more expensive than this one but not great though, it would register .4 grams suddenly and not sensitive to the 1-2 bean increments. I bought this one for espresso specifically and man it is fantastic so accurate, super responsive, well built, size is great if you want to weigh your shot under your portafilter. I have a fellow series 1 and it’s amazing working with it. Overall highly recommend and for the price it’s amazing great value! Not sure why would I buy a bookoo for $130 or a fellow scale for $200. This one works great for $40

I didn't expect much but it works really well and seems to be very accurate. It's much more sensitive (to 0.1g) than the scale I was using to measure my coffee and the autostart timer works really well. Also, unlike my other scale, this one is USB-C rechargable and so far has no indication of needing a recharge after a week or so of daily use. My other scale uses CR2032 batteries and goes through a pair every three weeks, so being able to recharge instead is quite nice. It's small and I can use it to time the extraction and also use it to measure out heated water for tea, or whatever I need. This is definitely a steal for the price.

Great scale! The device accurately weighs beans and fits under my espresso machine to measure shots. It stopped working after 11.5 months, but I called Maestri House (since it was still under warranty), and they offered a refund or replacement. I took a refund because I wanted to buy the newer S2 model, which is easier to clean. Either way, these are both quality products with outstanding support.

Good value for the price. Sealed, easy to clean, accurate to one or two tenths compared to reference weights. Thin, works well on our Rancilio Silvia when teamed with a Rattleware shot cup. Only gripe is that the timer is sometimes several seconds slow to start when brewing espresso. Give it a try before you shell out for one of the $100+ scale/timers.

2 weeks in and no complaints. Exceeded my expectations. Timer function and tare work great. Size is perfect for my pour over setup. Weight is responsive with zero to minimal delay. Worth every penny so far.

Works flawlessly after I calibrated it compared to my other. Out of the box it was (very) off. Now it's within .1 of a gram. It's far more responsive than I expected. It's perfect for espresso and it's tiny so it fits on the smallest drip trays.

This is a great compact scale with all the features you need. Been using for nearly six months without needing to charge.

Great product, automatic timer function works fantastically making dialling in coffee much easier. Fits on Ninja Luxe espresso machines easily due to its small size. This really helps making the perfect espresso! Easily fit a large cappuccino mug on top while espresso is being made. Easy to use easy and to clean. So far so good ! Light weight. Display is clear to see while standing up. Compared to other products, I’d say this is value for money and is a much more popular brand compared to timemore in the UK.

Ich nutze die Maestri House Mini Kaffeewaage vor allem für Espresso und bin richtig zufrieden. Die 0,1-g-Auflösung hilft beim sauberen Dosieren und der Timer macht die Zubereitung deutlich konstanter. Praktisch ist auch, dass sie wiederaufladbar ist – kein Batteriewechsel, einfach laden und weiter nutzen. Die Waage ist kompakt, schnell einsatzbereit und lässt sich im Alltag unkompliziert bedienen (Tara/Timer). Für alle, die beim Kaffee gern reproduzierbar arbeiten, eine klare Empfehlung.

This is a neat piece of kit and does the job well. Combines weight and time neatly and has options to suit many circumstances.

Started calorie counting and needed something that could measure very small quantities for oils and sauces as they are often the most calorie dense foods. I’m happy to have this scale that is alot more precise than a generic one I bought in stores. Worth it if you want more accuracy!

Product: Works great and fits on my Breville Barista Touch perfectly. I keep the plastic "information for buttons" piece on it...as there are no markings. Came with a silicone pad to help protect it. I don't use the timer as my machine has one...but it would be handy for sure. Very easy to zero out the weight for measuring. The battery lasts a very long time, and I haven't had to recharge it yet. Auto turns off. Shipping: came quickly Other: I would order again. Price: very reasonable for what you get.
