Freewell 82mm V2 Magnetic Hybrid VND/CPL 3-7 Stops Filter -Adjustable VND and CPL Filter Futureproof

This has become a standard part of my kit for outdoor shoots on bright days.

I have several VND filters and find this one to be the best so far. Very good color accuracy and a hard stop to prevent the dreaded X band. I have purchased a few Freewell step up rings to support use on my various lenses and everything works flawlessly. My only complaint is the small screws that secure the filter (to prevent rotation once the correct CPL position is established) are very small and have worked their way loose a few times. I bought an extra set for when I will invariably lose one. Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase and would buy it again.

The Freewell 82mm V2 Magnetic Hybrid VND/CPL 3-7 Stops Filter is a well-built accessory. The filter feels solid, and the magnetic attachment is strong and secure. The included lens cap is a nice touch, fitting snugly and adding to the overall convenience. However, I'm not entirely convinced about the necessity of a magnetic variable ND filter. While the magnetic system allows for quick and easy attachment, I didn't find it significantly more beneficial than traditional screw-on filters in my shooting scenarios. That said, this might be a matter of personal preference, and others might appreciate the magnetic feature more than I did. In terms of performance, the filter works well, providing a variable density range of 3 to 7 stops (ND8-ND128), which is versatile for various lighting conditions. The integrated circular polarizer function enhances color saturation and reduces reflections effectively. Additionally, the filter is crafted with top-grade German optics and features a multi-layered coating process, making it resistant to scratches, water, dust, and oil. Overall, if you're in the market for a hybrid VND/CPL filter and are intrigued by the magnetic attachment system, the Freewell V2 is worth considering. However, if you're comfortable with traditional screw-on filters, the magnetic feature may not offer significant advantages.

It feels very delicate and easy to use, which improved the quality of my images. The only slight drawback is that the magnet cover is too heavy.

Great CPL/ND system with one caveat. I have multiple lenses I use when I shoot so changing the magnetic ring from one lens to another is annoying. I bought step-up rings for all of my lenses so they all are 82mm and tried searching for the 82mm magnetic ring by itself to attach to all of my lenses so switching the CPL/VND back and forth would be quick and easy but I've only found it sold with the metal cap cover but it's too expensive to buy 5 of those just for the magnetic ring. I don't need the cover I just need the magnetic ring. I mistakenly bought the Freewell M2 Magnetic Quick Swap rings but they don't work with the V2 system.

The build quality is good and it functions as expected with minimum damage to IQ but you need to consider this - if you shoot indoors or at dusk or you switch to slo-mon or you shoot stills along with 24fps video - 3 stop is too much for all these. From the first time I am trying, this 3 stop appears to be darker than actual 3 stop on camera. Just to keep in mind. And if you use primes in bright outdoors scenes during the day - 7 stop might not be sufficient. You will need a 9-10 stop. I am happy to buy a nd that goes from 1.5 to 9-10 stops or buy one that goes from 1-5 stop and stack additional fixed 5 stop on top. But this is just me and everyone’s use case is different. The filter itself is well built and retains IQ very well as compared to other sub $150 nd filters on Amazon. Buy if you can live with 3stop as minimum and not going beyond 7 stop, this could be just what you need. The magnetic functionality for me is not that big of a difference making thing but the snapping removing of mist filter on top is definitely valuable to me as I don’t want to use mist for entirety of my shoot. If you are not sure of what you want but a nd that goes 1.5 stop to 9 stop or close to that.

Lo compré pensando que se colocaba sobre la base imantada que viene con el sistema V2 pero solo puede usarse luego de colocar el VND+PL, por encima de estos… no tiene mucho sentido

Tengo los dos filtros de este tipo de efecto, el Snow Mist y el Glow Mist, la diferencia no es mucha, pero el Snow Mist es más difuso el contraste y digamos que se ve más que el Glow, que es mas leve. La calidad es excelente y en conjunto con el sistema V2 del Freewell es buenísimo. Recomendado además por el buen precio que tiene.

Este filtro es maravilloso. La imagen no pierde nitidez y funciona realmente bien. Lo de ser magnético es mejor y más cómodo de lo que pensaba. Viene en un estuche bonito y muy bien protegido. Llevo más de 30 años en el audiovisual y lo recomiendo totalmente.

Top nd filter. Alleen zie ik bij andere klanten dat hun plekken de filter vast kan zetten en bij mij zit er op een plek waar ik de filter vast kan zetten geen idee of dat klopt? Maar verder ziet het prima uit
