Crowd pleaser for my carnivore AND vegan kids!
Best "fake meat" product I've found -- and shelf stable and bargain priced, to boot! Fantastic texture, takes the flavor of the liquid you use for reconstituting, so there is a lot of flexibility in ways to serve it. For all of the Hoosier Hill dry TVP, I recommend first soaking in boiling water, with or without seasoning (vegetarian soup base, esp the "Better than Boullion" vegan "chicken" stock is recommended here!) and then incorporating in your recipe. I love that I can store this product on shelves in jars rather than using refrigerator space! Love all the HHF TVP products, versatile and practical as well as tasty and nutritious!

Dense and delicious
These taste so much better than soy curls, have a better texture, firmer, and are less expensive. I’m sold. My brother opened them today and ate every one without sharing that first dish. I came home and threw them into pozole instead of pork shoulder and had to add more and more. I mean we’ve had these less than a day and we are halfway through the giant bag. Granted it’s prep for a pretty big family dinner but I just know we are going to be cycling through these a LOT! I had previously purchased curls in bulk. Those are good too and my bro commented curls are more like chicken and these are more like beef and I think that’s right! These are denser more like beef. But so delicious, and substantial. More appropriate for breading and coating with an Asian sauce than the curls which feel more like chicken straight up.

I like the texture of these better than Soy Curls
These soy nuggets are great. Used them the first night to make fajitas and I thought the taste and texture was spot on. They really chew like tender chicken pieces. They are, however, harder to re-hydrate than Soy Curls. While Soy Curls can just sit in hot water, these require a bit more work. To make these I boiled them in vegetable "chicken" broth and then squeezed out the extra liquid in a french press. Once pressed, I added them to the peppers and onions and cooked for a bit. Pros: Cheaper than Soy Curls Better texture, IMO Cons: Take longer/more labor needed to hydrate All in all, I think they're great. I plan on using these a lot.

If only they were non GMO/organic I'd buy them again
The 3lb package is huge and if you add seasonings and herbs and/or a bit of your own or bottled sauces to the rehydrating liquid and then cook them long enough (about 3/4 of an hour in the ratio of 1 cup chunks to three cups water) they plump up nicely and have a decent enough texture. So if your goal is simply to economize and add protein, they will do that pretty well. But as a vegan getting a lot of my protein and variety from tofu, tempeh, seitan and TVP type products I am not willing to eat this much non-GMO, non-organic heavily and/or chemically processed soy. I had hoped the packaging, when it came, would reveal that they were made from non-GMO or organic soybeans, but such claims are conspicuously absent. Oddly the bag did tout that most of their other products like their "shelf stable" cheese powders, powdered dairy and non-dairy products are "hormone free, gluten free and non GMO). But nothing whatsoever about the product in the bag I bought. So while I like the chunk format I'm going to stick to Butler Soy curls.

Versatile plant based protein source, good for low sodium diets, vegans will love it!
Wonderful food item! High in protein and very versatile, no need for meat. The unflavored version is very good for low sodium diets as well. Excellent for both vegan and vegetarian diets. Goes a long way and is a very good value for the dollar spent. Very easy to store and use. This product is really good , you can flavor it the way you like. Helps me save money on my food bill.

Yummy! Versatile Imitation Chicken Chunks
I really appreciated the prompt delivery of this product and the nice resealable bag they came in. I just now got around to making something with them, so I simmered the chunks briefly in a little water , then when they were half rehydrated, I dumped in a can of diced no salt tomatoes, some Italian seasoning and then a couple of spoonfuls of sliced olives and pimientos, and voila! An almost instant lunch. I tried one right out of the bag and they are crunchy. Cooked, they have meaty texture and a rather bland flavor--perfect for any flavor you want to add. Great for barbecue sauce--which is my other favorite for these chunks.

A staple in my pantry!!
First let me say I only gave these 3 stars for flavor because they don't have any... they will soak up the flavor of the liquid you use to reconstitute them. That being said, they are very versatile and we use them constantly! I've made chicken pot pies, stir fries, and lately discovered they are amazing in one-pot pasta meals! I just pour some in my Dutch oven, add pasta, veggies, seasonings, and cover with the liquid (broth/sauce). I'm sorry I don't have photos of the dishes but they're excellent. It's always fun to experiment and create new dishes with these.

It tasted like Purina Dog Chow.
Don't get me wrong, when I was a kid, I managed to get a couple of more of Purina dry dog food, but this has a horrible taste. In addition to that it comes from Indiana, a state I don't want anything from.
