This is how to actually use this.
It saddens me to see the bad reviews from other buyers who aren't familiar with this powerhouse of a herb. People automatically assume that you can use this "as any other herb" and make a quick cup of tea with it. It's not that easy.It was my grandmother who introduced me to this herb many, many years ago. I believe the herb itself originates in Central America. I remember vividly whenever I had a cut or scraped my knee, my grandmother would crush the leaves and apply them to the wound. It was said to keep the wound clean and stop the bleeding. This herb is usually sold as a blend of leaves, twigs, and roots. That is perfectly normal. All parts have benefits but can be used differently.Regarding the making of tea. As with most herbal plants, the roots tend to taste bitter and the leaves have the most neutral or, sometimes, even a sweet taste. Cordoncillo Negro leaves aren't sweet but not as bitter as its roots and twigs/branches. I'd recommend using an infuser basket and focusing on the leaves when making your tea (technically it's called a "tisane"). Traditionally, the tea is used to deal with a variety of digestive disorders (diarrhea, stomachaches, etc) but I have personally used it to battle urinary tract infections.Tea is just one of the many different uses of this herb. Also, please note that the seller doesn't promote this herb product as "tea".I would recommend reading up on the herb as there are many more uses for this.

Not Really For Tea, Doesn't Mean it is Bad
Functionality: You get exactly what you see with this. The bag contains the leaves, branches, etc. of the herb, to use as you see fit. There are uses for this beyond trying to make an herbal tea out of it.Quality: Nice resealable bag, the contents smell fresh.Value: I don't have a good concept of what this type of product would usually cost, but it seems like a decent value to me.Would I Buy? Probably not, personally. But, if you know how to use the negro herb in its medicinal uses beyond trying to make tea, this seems like a good quality product I would recommend.

Exactly What You See in the Listing is What You Get
This is a nice bag of fresh cordoncilli negro herb, including all of its parts. It has many uses if you do a search and learn about it. The package is nice and it seals well to keep the herb fresh.

Very good
Cordoncillo negro has many potential uses. I ordered this in December 2023 and it came with an expiration date of November 2027. I tried chewing a bit of leaf, as I knew it is sometimes used to relieve mouth pain, and sure enough, the place where I chewed it went numb, so this is the real thing.I made this into a tea, and while like some herbal teas, it was somewhat bitter, a little sweetener fixed that up. Herbal teas are often made with not only leaves, but stems and bark, and each part of the plant provides different benefits. In this case, leaves, stems and bark are all safe to consume. The product comes in a sturdy resealable bag, so it is easy to open and close, and take out the amount you need. I will be using it sparingly in some authentic Mexican recipes as well.

It contains a mix of bark and leaves!
I found it amusing how many other buyers were irritated about what they received. Why would you order it if you don't even know what Cordoncillo Negro is?? Nowhere does it say that this is herbal tea. It is an herb and all its parts are used, not just the leaves. It has numerous health benefits and yes, it does have a slightly bitter taste (although if you've ever tried Wormwood tea, nothing is ever as bitter as that), but it's not supposed to be consumed for its taste but for its benefits. The taste is not as unpleasant once you sweeten the drink with some honey.I appreciate the fact that the bag is see-through and you can see its content. Yes, there is bark and some "twigs", and even some "flowers". If you research it, you will learn that all of these parts are used for different purposes. But if you want just the leaves, some brands will sell just packaged leaves.
