Interesting so far
Finished the first volume and well into the second. Solzhenitsyn’s accounts are gritty, sometimes poetic, interesting, and always tragic. For me personally, anything written by a Russian and translated into English is a bit of a slog. Maybe I should just learn the language and Cyrillic alphabet and start over. lolI bought this set for believing it could be one of those portentous cautionary tales and looking at the leftist leanings of American academia, education, medicine, and tech sectors of today I do believe we could see an electronic version of similar - like maybe a Chinese style social credit system - on our shores and sooner than you may think. To read Solzhenitsyn’s accounts of interrogators and coerced confessions and the impersonal bureaucratic nature of the hellish gulag system and of the zeks growing fondness and conditioning to such heinous treatment should make anyone in the west stop, pause, and ask himself “is this the road we’re on? and is this really where we want to be?”If nothing else, this three volume set will leave you thinking that for its flaws, America is worthwhile as is.

Important reading!
This is a masterwork of first hand experiences from the horrors of communist USSR.At moments I caught my mouth hanging open while reading, truly it cannot be overstated.I was a bit intimidated at first, but once I started reading it went fast.
