A brilliant and positive read, worth every penny.
This is an incredibly helpful book. It's written in a positive and motivating way ... and even the simple reminder of where your tongue should sit in your mouth has made a HUGE difference to my condition.I believe in a holistic approach to medical conditions ... and it is important to have positive energy feeding your mind.I'll take this moment to suggest that anyone with this condition is careful when joining any Facebook and/or chatroom groups ... I joined one and it was the most negative experience of my life ... I compare it to the dementors in Harry Potter as the users/contributors appear to want to suck every happiness and positive energy out of you.Where this book gets it right is that it is realistic, positive, and written in a friendly and simple way.Whilst typing this I'm aware of my posture, my tongue, and that I'm not scrunching my shoulders up ... hopefully by continuing to follow the guidance set out in this book I'll continue to manage the condition successfully.

brilliant advice
This book helped me very much as it gives the TMJ sufferer a very deep, almost scientific understanding of how the symptoms came about and how they can also be made better. The book is great in teaching you how to chew, breathe, swallow, sit at a desk, stand, sleep and all the other activities we spend most of our day doing and therefore adapting these habits is essential for improvement of TMJ. If you are experiencing quite strong pain, however, I would definitely recommend pairing this with seeing a medical professional regularly as well as deep tissue massage of neck and upper back. Also try some self-massage tools every evening for a few minutes followed by applying heat to relax the muscle afterwards.

The answer to my prayers
After over 2 years of chronic head and jaw pain, three different anti-depressants, 5 consultants, £500 spent on 'I can really help you private therapists' at last I found the answers I need in order to get back my quality of life. Time and commitment is needed to read, understand, and work out your own treatment plan and then to stick to it. I have needed to make fundamental changes to what I eat, how I sit, stand, and sleep and to work out a routine of exercises but after only 4 weeks the improvement has been massive. If I get a bad day I can problem solve and try to reduce the trigger which has caused the increased pain. Why isn't help like this available on the NHS? This book is not for you if you just want to pop a pill to make the pain go away but for me it has enabled me to take control of the pain I have been suffering and do something about it. Absolutely invaluable.

I am very glad I did
What a book. After a visit to our dentist who explained I had TMJ I had to come home & explore more - when I found this book on Amazon. After reading almost all the reviews I went ahead & purchased it.I am very glad I did. I suffer from frozen shoulders on both sides & what I hadn't realised was the way we hold our heads & the bite of our teeth etc can contribute to nearly all problems with muscles & tendons in the facial & neck areas.I haven't put the book down yet & I am still finding new things on each page on what to do or not do,I would too recommend this book very highly.

Helps
Haven't read all of it yet. Nut what I have read and put into use is helping. Trying not to get too enthusiastic incase it's just temporary. TMJ seems to be something doctors can't help with only throw painkillers at, so anything that helps with this horrible condition is worth it.

good luck everyone
This book was very informative :) Quite interesting and relevant, important for people with TMJ to investigate all avenues and be informed of everything about their condition as it's a very upsetting unsettling illness, good luck everyone :)

A Great Help
This book really helped me to understand TMJ disorder and to put into practice various massage techniques and exercises which really relieved my TMJ related pain and headaches.Part of the problem with TMJ is not really knowing what you can do to help yourself and overcome chronic pain and discomfort. Cynthia Peterson explains what can be done in a simple, straightforward way and even the chapters on anatomy were easy to follow. After 4 weeks of following her advice, my TMJ disorder has notably improved and I feel empowered by the knowledge which the book provided about this condition.
