IF... *by on Reviewed in the United States January 20, 2025* I made detailed step by step instructions for this kit. Email me directly and I will send them to you. Get two of these. One to play your on your vintage radio and one to "play" with on 160 meters. This kit will surprise you. While it's not sold specifically as a U.S. Part 15 device, it CAN be adjusted to output just 100 mW. Beyond that, you will need an Amateur Radio License and adjust it into the 160 meter band. It will tune to about 1845 KHz. Of course, you CAN'T play music on 160 Meters. But you can do MCW and voice. Only one heat sink is provided for the transistors. It is advisable to us e a second heat sink on the other transistor, especially if you plan on adjusting it to output more than 100 mW. It is also advisable to use the TA7368P Audio IC in a SIP socket instead of directly soldering it in place.I actually built two of these kits. One to play music into my vintage radios and the second to do some more experimentation on. At 100 Mw into a 9 foot antenna, it sounds good and has a range of about 1/8 of a mile. On 160 meters into an Alpha Delta Sloper I get about 1/4 mile without a tuner. I can adjust the output to about 400 mW before the modulation volume drops off. if you remove the audio IC and replace it with a more powerful amp, you can get a LOT more power out of it. I bread boarded together a BA521 6 watt audio amp and "replacing" the TA7368 IC, I was able to adjust it to about 2.5 watts before the audio modulation started to drop. Un-modulated into the sloper and a tuner I was able to get almost 10 watts forward power with only an 8.6 volt power supply.Wanna good AM transmitter to play around with on the cheap?
