Everything Leads to You

A couple of years ago I read Looking For Alaska. I loved every fibre of that book, it changed the way I looked at fiction. Then a few months ago I read The Rosie Project, and it did the same thing.And then I read Everything Leads To You, and guys, it just happened again.Everything Leads To You is about two young women, Emi and Ava, it's about falling in love, it's about family and belonging. Emi starts out working in the film industry as an intern, she goes places from there, but that's not really what the plot is about. Emi's vocation is a framing device enabling her and Ava to meet. People keep saying it's a book about movies, and I'd say it's very much not. You could replace the film industry with the music industry, and it would be the same book. It's a story about the people, not what they do, and that's why it's so powerful.LaCour's writing is splendid. Not in that Gatsby or Catcher way, where the sentence structure and word choice and style are reason enough on their own to read the book. The strength of LaCour's writing is in her characters. It's such an honest and real story. Emi is such a believable and relatable protagonist that I could almost believe that I wasn't reading a book, but that she was sat next to me telling me her story. LaCour's characters aren't just characters, they're people.I'm sparing with five star ratings. To get a perfect rating a book must be perfect. Everything Leads To You is. It's enchanting. I can't wait to read it again.

Read Nina LaCour’s ‘Everything Leads to You’ in one day as it is a bit of a page turner given fluid writing plus the mystery theme of finding Ava and helping her find out about her roots. If you’re a fan of independent, low budget cinema; want to know more about the work of production/set designers and are into Nancy Drew type mysteries, then you’ll enjoy reading this book. What lets the book down is readers may have to suspend disbelief over the age of Emi (the intern production designer getting her first paid break) only being 18. One or two other reviewers have quoted LaCour on why we love films which is given towards the end of the book. This was a beautiful piece of writing about the power of great movies because “they tell us to remember, they remind us of life.....how much it hurts to have your heart broken. Remember about death and suffering and the complexities of living” which all poignantly ties back to the novel’s main story threads.

i loved this book!! such an adorable romance but i liked that romance wasn't the main focus. as far as postage and and stuff goes this arrived when i was expecting and in good condition

Sweet, romantic, fluffy f/f. Loved the set design stuff.

Im torn about giving this a 3* or 4* because I did like this story but it wasn't the best. There was so much more focus on the film and production aspect than I thought there was good to be. Although some of the descriptions were beautiful I started to skim read by the end. I thought a lot of this book waa going to be about finished Ava but thay happened so quickly it felt a little rushed but I did like her story and finding out about her family. One thing I did love was the build up to the romance and the fact it wasn't rushed made it even cuter for me to read.I will recommend this book but not just as a 'lesbian love story' I constantly see it labeled as when there is a lot more to the story.

Nice book!I love movies and sets. It was amazing reading about that.But I would like to know more about the characters.

Lovely story, beautiful cover but kinda hard to keep up with the book sometimes as story keep rotating over same or similar scenes.

I loved this book a perfect light read

A partire dalla texture della copertina, questo libro è veramente bello. La trama è abbastanza originale, molto intrigante, una storia d'amore costruita in un'ambientazione ricca di storia e mistero. L'unica nota un po' stridente, a mio parere, è la giovane età delle protagoniste, ho fatto un po' fatica ad immaginarle appena diciottenni con il tipo di vita e lavoro che fanno nella storia. Tolto questo, ho apprezzato molto.
