The Alvia madhuca indica oil arrived in a film wrapped printed cardboard box - suitable for a gift. The film wrap around the box and around the bottle is not recyclable 👎.The oil (15ml) is contained in a brown glass bottle and arrives with a plastic dropper top. The BBD is 06/25.Madhuca Incha oil is derived from Madhuca longifolia tree. The tree is economically important because of widespread uses of its flowers, fruits, seeds and timber. I guess in this case the oil is from the seeds or the fruit - which is not stated on the product. Nor is it stated whether or not this is an essential oil that needs diluting in a carrier oil or not!Madhuca oil is rich in palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid as the main fatty acids and three of the four tocopherol isomers are also present. Little formal research in large clinical trials has been performed on this oil but in indigenous system of medicine it is widely used. Smaller human and animal studies indicate some benefits but these are for its oral use and I cannot find benefits for topical use.The scent is neutral.The lack of information provided by Alvia on this product is a problem. I don’t know if it is a carrier or an essential oil; I don’t know what part of the tree it is derived from and in the use instructions it just states 'benefits on skin or hair’Overall due to lack of information I am not sure how to use it - so I cannot recommend it.
