Great for product photography, little pricey for what you get but worth it.
Bought this after my amateur light setup pieced together from google and youtube ended up being inadequate for work level photo shoot. Setup was a breeze, the document included link to a youtube video, which is an added plus since it was easier to follow that static manual. Construction is solid, not the best material but definitely not the worst, pretty good for the price you pay for. Light seemed a bit dark but after couple trial shoots and tweaking wit the "adjustable" light walls, my product shoots were close to perfection! Still have to edit a bit post shoot but that's normal. Would recommend for anyone looking for cost effective, hassle free, don't want to build your own light tent solution.

Professional close-up photograpy made easy
Fairly new to digital single lens reflex photography (I traded in my Viet Nam era Nikon film equipment for a new Nikon D90) I wanted to do table top photography of model cars, planes, coins, etc. I investigated several fabric "light boxes" and found them to be flimsy and difficult to work with. Some of the offerings that used tungsten bulbs (HOT!!!) appeared to be fire hazards and downright dangerous. I have used this product for several weeks and continue to be impressed with the ease of taking closeup photos without glare, shadows, etc. I opted for the MyStudio 32 rather than the 20 and absolutely made the right choice. One note; however, the 32 is BIG and takes a fairly large table to set up. It is probably not as portable as the 20 if that would be a consideration for you. The price from Amazon was $200 less than direct from the factory. Amazon rules!

Avoid at all costs - long list of weak spots, missing parts and bad design decisions.
I purchased the largest of the studio options, and if it weren't for the three hours I put into assembling it, I'd send it back.UPDATE: The top lights didn't work at all. I checked the wiring and all looks OK, tried swapping the tubes, and no luck there either. Given all the hassle with it, I spent another 2 hours boxing it all up and returned it.Let's start with the basics:The entire setup (for my $1099) is nothing but a couple of shop lamps with some brackets and screws. In my box, the loose parts were all in cheap zip-top bags, and two of them had broken open, spilling all over the inside of the large box. It took me around 20 minutes to unpack everything, and pick up all the nuts and bolts that had fallen on the floor. The lamps themselves are really bad quality - cheap florescent shop lamps with a small chain switch on the side. The bulbs are simple Philips TL tubes - nothing special.During assembly, I noticed that around 10 of the nuts and bolts were missing, so I had to dig into my own assortment of SAE parts to complete assembly. The main lighting frame is really rickety - there is no cross brace, so the whole thing wobbles and flexes. The rear frame that holds the backdrop is the same - no cross brace, so really wobbly. The clips are bog standard office binder clips, and not strong enough to hold the weight of the backdrop, so be prepared to get new clamps there. The side lights are simple bathroom florescent lamps, nothing special there either, and they come on lousy little stands.Despite having 6 cords, no extension cord or other switching option is included - given all the cheap parts, the least the vendor could do is include a $5 power strip, especially at the price of the setup. All in all, I can not recommend the VS53 setup. There are much better setups on the market, and this is one to avoid.

Can't feel like I got my money's worth.
QUALITY:I purchased the bundle set which includes the 5 mat board backgrounds and 2 reflector cards. It arrived with parts missing, which isn't a big deal since it seems pretty hassle-free to request for missing parts. However, one thing I find that the other reviews did not stress enough on is the quality of the material used for this product. To put it simply, all the items included in this bundle- with material cost taken into consideration, could not have gone pass 35-40USD to manufacture, making the price of 130, in my opinion, hardly justifiable. The mat board backgrounds are craft papers you would find at the common arts & craft stores, same with the reflectors which are also just craft boards with a gloss finish, also can be found at any arts & craft store for a fairer price. The plastic stand/frame which holds up the light is also made of flimsy, low quality plastic. If you are looking to get your money worth in quality, sturdy manufacturing, I would suggest finding an alternative source, or building your own through Home Depot, Lowes, etc. and arts & craft stores.FUNCTION:With that said, the product functions as advertised. It works better than light boxes, but not as well as soft boxes/continuous lighting kits; but if you are handy with a digital-SLR (professional digital camera) it should be sufficient. It 'can' be portable but not built to be conveniently so.PRO: Simple. Functional.CON: Low quality built/cheap parts. Not conveniently portable. Limited angles. Limited height.CONCLUSION:If you are just looking for a quick solution and a simple setup to taking decent quality professional product photos (better than what light boxes can produce), then this will do the job; but if you are looking for a quality built studio kit, this is not what you will get.PERSONAL:The concept of this product is excellent. I hope to see other merchants take notice and produce similar kits to drive up the competition so that we can see fairer and lower prices.
