Surprisingly sturdy!
Wasn't expecting much, but it's very well built, looks great, and actually holds my cutlass... sheath and all! I wore it around doing farm chores, and the sheath didn't slip. It doesn't look fantastic with the cutlass (because it's so wide) but it's functional.

Great Costume accessory
I had a fake sword in it, and it worked perfect for my costume. Light weight and it looks really well. Would buy it again.

Very nice, but not versatile
I bought several of these items for a film project, one to hold a sword and two to hold daggers. The sword worked out great, as the belt I was using was not particularly wide and the actor only needed to use one weapon. These are high quality, with thick, strong leather and sturdy steel rivets and loops. I was really surprised about the quality, considering the price. You could literally walk around with a sword hanging from your hip all day with this thing and it wouldn't break, and holds the sword at the perfect angle (to be clear, I am no history buff or into reenactment, my opinions are based upon look and feel only). The only issue I have with these items is that they can only go on the left hip, to draw the sword with the right hand. Lefties, forget it. There is no way to switch this to left handed arrangement, as the leather is all riveted in place and one of the cross sections gets in the way of turning the loop inside out. As a result, my actress who was supposed to have a dagger on each hip had to go with something else instead, which was really no big deal but meant I bought two of these sword hangers that went to waste for this project. However, had we just wanted to use a single dagger, this sword hanger would have been great despite the fact that the sheath for the dagger was very wide. Additionally, though previous reviewers have said this would fit a "wide pirate belt," it would not fit the majority of the wide pirate belts I have seen. It fits a belt slightly wider than your standard men's belt found at any clothing outlet. These really are awesome items, for a great price. High quality workmanship, for sure. Just be aware that it's for right-handed people only.

Real Leather At a Great Price
For the price ($8) this is an insane value. It's a completely useable sword frog made of real leather. I've seen cheap costume vinyl and plastic frogs that cost more. The leather looks nice and it will accommodate an array of sword sizes.

Assisted me in vanquishing my enemies
Good people, this sword frog is a marvel for the price. Pon my word, I'd pay triple or more for it. It fits the scabbard of my Paul Chen Albrecht II hand and a half sword very well and suspends my blade at a ready position at my side. Many villains and brigands who roam my lands have already been brought to quick justice. Verily, I feared the laces would break as I tightened them but the Lord was merciful and they did not. Should they ever break, I will demand a trial by combat and a full refund if it impugns my honor. But thus far, the laces hold true. This will not work on a rapier or small sword, but any arming or bastard sword will do just fine. God wills it!

Mine seems to be OK ...
Apparently there are a number of these that are different and shipped by different sellers. Mine appears to be some sort of vinyl coating over leather. It's sturdy enough and you can't tell about the vinyl, it had a real leather thong to tie it tight around the scabbard. So, meh, it works and it looks OK and it hasn't broken yet, nor does it show any indication of breaking. I'm using this to hang a Tinker Pearce Longsword, which is a real sword not a costume prop, from a ring belt and it works fine for that. I got creative with the lacing so that looks pretty good too. It hangs where it should once the belt loops are adjusted to the proper position. It's very secure around the scabbard but I can still pull the scabbard out of the frog to sit down. It rides exactly where it should but then you have to find the proper point of balance for your sword and scabbard for it to do that, too front heavy and it will ride forward and up in the back, too back heavy and it will ride backwards around your rear end and be "bouncy" in the front. Like anything else, you have to put a little thought into what you're doing. So far so good but someday I'll probably order a leather kit and make my own custom suspension for this sword. Until then this appears to be doing the job just fine.

Good for price, lasted a couple years. Not leather.
Broke apart after several uses. The black "leather" layer (probably vinyl) peeled off and what was underneath looked like corkboard. I did buy this a couple years ago, so for the price, it was good. But it's definitely not real leather. If you want something quality that will last, probably yo with Etsy. This thing literally fell apart. Threw it away at the last ren faire I went to, otherwise I'd show a picture.

Practical and functional sword frog
This is easy to add to a belt and holds any sword size. The laces allow the width to be adjusted. No complaints, and sits nicely on the hip.

Fantastic I love it! Even used with a narrow blade.
Fantastic quality!! This is the real deal. I even managed to use it with a very narrow rapier. (Unlace it & re-lace with the holes overlapping. Wrap the lace a couple times around the scabbard above & below it.) Love this.

Perfecta para mi espada.
Sin duda, pese a su bajo costo, me sirvió de maravilla, no tiene desperfecto y mi espada queda muy bien sujetada, sin duda comprare mas si llego a ocuparlas.
