This brand is without a doubt the best tasting Dried Thai basil that I have had. I always grow my own, but this year was so hot it bolted and burned to a crisp even with shade cloth. I tried another (domestic) brand costing much more that was terrible. It went in the trash. NESAR IS THE BEST.

The package includes a zip lock that should give the dried leaves a long service life. The leaves have a pleasant aroma that helps provide a unique flavor to my home made fermented Red Thai hot pepper Sauce.

So I've been buying these Thai flavor packets, from Amazon, and I like the Aroy brand, especially their green Thai curry, and their panang curry, and if I cannot get to the Asian store, or the store just cannot get fresh Thai basil leaves, I ordered these and these dried Thai basil leaves are really good as a replacement for the taste! The moment you open the bag, the delicious smell of the Thai basil wafts out and it's kind of heady in a very nice way. Glad I bought this. I'm so happy Amazon carries this. For some reason I cannot find it in the local h Mart, or Kmart the Korean version, so I may have to drive all the way to a Vietnamese center to see if they have a Thai section but until I actually do that trip to the trip to the Thai store for any dried Thai basil leaf, I'm getting it here on Amazon. They give quite a bit in this bag. I'm very pleased with this purchase

Remarkably fresh and flavorful!!

When I opened this, I did not get any aroma whatsoever of Thai basil. I tried biting a dry leaf. No taste. I then tried rehydrating them, tasting at half an hour, hour, and hour and a half, and nothing. They never really rehydrated and there was no Thai basil flavor. I shop our local Asian markets in SoCal often, but thought this would be a good product to have on hand when I couldn't get fresh. I so wanted this to work but it's a total, total fail for me.

Ok in a pinch but even after soaking in hot water these are stringy and tough but the flavor is there.

Basil is expensive at the store and if you get it dried, it's normally the sweet italian basil that's chopped up. This basil was dried and in a bag. It's really bulky but that's because they packaged the whole leaves with enough air that they don't crumble. The instructions tell you to re-hydrate in warm water for 1 minute. I'd suggest doing this so you don't get the residual dust from the leaves in your food. We added it to Thai Panang curry and it added good flavor. Not great, but good. A great pantry addition if you plan on cooking thai food and need it in a pinch. Otherwise, I'd stick with fresh.
