MDF Instruments, SpragueRappaport Dual Head Stethoscope with Adult, Pediatric, and Infant Convertible chestpiece, Burgundy (Napa) Tube, MDF767-17

I bought a cheaper (£8) stethoscope and was very dissappointed with its performance. I had hoped to hear a hedgehog's breathing. Human Lung sounds were OK, heart beat very faint. When I looked for something better, I discovered that many reviewers complained of the same thing, even on much more expensive branded models.The reviews for this MDF scope where very encouraging and I liked its adapability, the head can be configured in 3 ways.The listing makes it look like you are getting 3 different heads, but what you get is a pack of parts to change the configuration. I haven't tried doing this yet. The stethoscope also comes with 3 different sizes of ear bud. The cheaper version became very uncomfortable after a few minutes of use, it felt like it was trying to go through my ears.So what's it like? I agree totally with the previous reviwers. It is perfect. Heartbeat sounds are as I was expecting, I can even hear the pulse in my wrist. Lung sounds are good too. I don't know if the design (Sprague Rappaport) that makes the difference but this device works really well.The 180 degree head twist from hi to lo frequency is quite firm, which I think is good.I haven't tried it on the hedgehog because he's responded well to his treatment for lungworm and since he's wild, I don't want to handle him unnecessarily.So if you are looking at cheaper sethoscopes, I would suggest you consider paying a bit more for this one (£25), you won't be dissapointed.I see that this is not available anymore and MDF Direct are out of stock.

First time using a stephoscope as practice Nurse who suffers with her ears. Very good product and happy with sound, would buy again and recommend.
