Does this require any other parts?

The extracted air from a bathroom should not simply go into a loft area but should be funnelled out through the roof or wall of the building. I couldn't do that so returned the item which I must say was first rate and I liked it a lot.

My current fan runs off the light switch. Is that what "remote switching" means in the description? Will this run off the light switch too?

I understand remote switching literally means that the switching is done elsewhere than at the fan. Therefore the supply would come from a light fitting controlled by a pull cord

My existing 4 inch fan that I need to replace is recessed into a square hole. Is there a way of fitting the icon fan into this hole'

Sorry I cannot give you an answer on that question, as I did not fit our unit, but I think that unit was fitted into a circular hole in the ceiling void. If you call the manufacturer, I am sure they will be able to help you, if you give them the dimensions of your square hole.

Which model can you use over the shower please

Personally, I would not locate an extractor fan near the shower. Electricity and water don't mix well! In our shower room the extractor is outside the shower cubical, in the ceiling, to extract the warm moist air. It works well in that position.
