I’m not sure why the ratings are relatively low for these. Maybe issues with different batches? The set I got are great and very fun to use. They feel so smooth as they glide over the page and the colors are vivid. They layer and blend in very satisfying ways. I like the case they come in as well. They dry a little slower than some other tempera paint sticks, but i like that because it contributes to better blending. I haven’t had a problem with smudging (though that might be a different story for kids who are using them). I managed to create a fairly realistic avocado, just playing around at first use. I really enjoy playing with these and I’m glad i got them!

Bought these for the girls (age 8-10) to decorate their wooden bunk bed name plates at camp this year. They worked so perfectly. No paint. No dry time. The colors were vibrant, they colored smoothly and they were so easy for echo e to use and share! Perfect for the activity and for many more later!

These are great for the price, fun and colorful. But they are more like a waxy crayon and don’t seem to dry completely like other Tempera sticks I have. They are also water soluble which I thought Tempera sticks were not. I wish they’d change the name to just water soluble crayons. But again for the price they are fun.

Beautiful colors and fantastic packaging! The colors are easy to blend with a small amount of water or your finger. I was surprised how many surfaces you could use. I really like the narrow diameter of the tube, it’s not clunky. I am anxious to see what other mediums I can layer with. This product is definitely five stars for kids and adults alike.

While the amount of colors is excellent and they carrying case is really convenient, overall these sticks felt really low quality and waxy, and I will probably be returning them. They feel like the off-brand, Roseart crayons to other brands' Crayola :( These didn't dry quickly, smudged all over my hands and the work, left little waxy flakes that then smeared and smudged into the other colors in a really displeasing way. I would not recommend these for people who are looking to draw/make art, but they're probably fine for kids.

These are a lot of fun! They look best used as watercolor paint sticks. Color first the use wet finger or paintbrush. Colors are very bright. I like the case. Unlike most similar sets, the case serves well as a permanent storage or travel case. It is very sturdy and easy to open and set up so all are easy to quickly grab and return.

I REALLY enjoy these tempera sticks, I've been looking for something I can travel with that are easy and fun that I won't be afraid to break like a neocolor since those are very expensive. I got these on a sale and I'm having a ton of fun with them! They do take a bit longer to dry than a regular tempera but they go on toned paper and white paper well! Compared to some twistable crayons like faber castell-they're very comparable in smoothness and workability with faber castell ones beating them only in that there's way more crayon in there and I feel less worried about using them constantly or for lots of art. Otherwise I really do like them. I saw a review that said that they are gel crayons, these are not gel crayons, they are not oily at all. Gel crayons are water soluble oil pastels which keep them creamy and workable and they do not dry at all. These ARE tempera, which are made with water, pigment and casein. I did some testing with them to make sure. My gel crayon did not ever dry down, these did, they smudged lightly and when you leave them to set, they don't work well with water. While they might not have as much of the quick drying and permanently drying features of large sticks, they are indeed tempera. They feel smoother and less messy, more like a oil pastel than a gel crayon, go on less messy and are a bit more precise I felt like. A few colors weren't exactly what I was expecting, but for such a cheap set of 36, I'm really happy for what I got to noodle around in my sketchbooks.

Really nice smooth bright colors, my granddaughter loves them.
