Paris in Stride: An Insider's Walking Guide [Weiner, Jessie Kanelos, Moroz, Sarah] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Paris in Stride: An Insider's Walking Guide Review: An inspired book that's beautiful to use and look at - This is such an inspired book with many facets. First, it's a practical guide to an insider's favorite areas, written with knowledge, experience, and a love for the city. Second, it's a book filled with beautiful watercolor art illustrating some of the of the magic of Paris. Combined it's a very helpful book to use both while planning and when touring. Lastly, it's a book that pays tribute to Paris and its charms and is not one of those guide books that become dated very quickly. It's a timeless book that's become a part of my libray of books on traveling and art. Review: Very useful book to discover Paris - We just got back from Paris and used this book to guide some of our walks. In short -- it's definitely a very useful book to escape the typical tourist crowds and enjoy a bit of Paris as locals live it (or so it seemed). It does have a feel of getting tips from a friend who lives in the city and knows the nice spots. For example, we were very impressed with the Belleville & Buttes-Chaumont walk -- the parks are beautiful and provide a nice break from the hectic museums. The suggestions for Montmartre were useful as well: for example, start at the top of the hill and make it downstairs as opposed to upstairs -- simple advice, but very helpful. Saint-Germain-des-Pres was aslo a nice walk -- especially, Jardin du Luxemburg and the Ecole Nationale Superiore Des Beaux-Arts. The latter is not very obvious to find, but was very interesting to visit and see how the projects by the students and their church studio. On another walk during the night of the museums -- the Museum of Hunting and Nature was a blast of surrealism! :) The maps in the book are not very detailed. n some cases, but it was not a problem for me because I was using google maps in conjunction. Another advice is to check if/when the places on the route open -- sometimes the cafes/shops/art galleries mentioned in the book were either permanently closed, or closed at the time when we were there. For example, Le Plateau on page 93 is only open Wednesday to Sunday, 2–7pm. Bugada & Cargnel looked promising, but is currently closed to public. Bottom line -- check the places before you head out.

Best Paris Guide Yet
This is a perfect travel guide in so many ways. I own several guides but have never sat down and read one cover-to-cover. I not only did that with this book, but have since ordered three more for friends as gifts. The watercolor paintings are charming, the text is very well written, the research really highlights spots of interest and is divided into do-able walks, and the book size is good for packing. I’m hoping this duo will write more travel guides just like it! Great book!!

Pretty artwork, inspiring but not helpful
Beautiful book but maybe not the most helpful if trying to use it as a guide book.

See more of the real Paris - and skip the standing on line
This book provides fantastic destinations that are not the crowd-packed destinations covered in the standard Paris guides. The authors’ organization of destinations by walking an Arrondissement makes it easy to learn Paris more like a local than a tourist - and you can quickly locate destinations in the book while afoot because of the map in front and table of contents. Though there are too many places to take in on one trip, every recommendation is high quality, from quirky shops to off-the-beaten path historical destinations to wonderful shops and eateries. I brought back Jacques Genin chocolates as gifts and wear a daily reminder of Le Slip Français. Restaurant Kunitoraya is not to be missed for its udon dishes - despite the waiting line. I have to believe similar for L’As du Fallafel since the line was too long both times I tried to get there. Belleville/Butte-Chaumont was delightfully ethnic and, as well-described by the authors, more down-to-earth than the downtown destinations. The list of wonderful places I visited because of this book is too long but every experience the highest quality. This book deserves high praise even though I am sad that it will become a victim of its own success - I so enjoyed visiting the destinations without the crowds. I have gifted this book twice to travelers to Paris. I return to it regularly back home to reminisce about the places I visited - and make plans for my return.

I'm a huge fan of Jessie Kanelos Weiner. I follow her art on Instagram (@thefrancofly) and was so excited that she was coming out with a travel guide to one of my favorite cities. The book provides several, perfectly curated walks that will show you the very best of Paris from an insider's perspective. And the beautiful, watercolor illustrations to accompany are just lovely. I may need to buy a second copy so I can cut the pictures out! Whether you're traveling to Paris or just love the city as much as I do, I could not recommend this book more. I'm so excited to plan a trip back to the city of lights and let Jessie be my guide!

Beautiful Parisienne Guide
My introduction to Jessica’s art came via a “cake topper” project she created and shared on the internet That work featured Parisienne icons that brought great joy to me and my family who love all things, Paris. I began to follow Jessica’s Instagram postings and then discovered her new book, “Paris in Stride.” I ordered and received it in just a few days and have spent many hours pouring over the beauty, humor, history, and insight that fill the pages of this gem. It is small, beautifully produced and will be in my purse when I begin my visit to Paris next week. "Paris in Stride" is my first treasure of a memorable spring journey to Paris.

Perfect for wandering through the city. You’ll wonder where all the tourist went - - but you won’t miss them.

Tolles Buch.

A nice little surprise When I initially ordered this book I thought it would be much bigger, sort of like a coffee table decoration book. it is much smaller, but still very very cute. I received it on time, and even though it is second hand, it is in very good condition.

This book covers many of the standard attractions that most travel books have and then covers a few more like Berthillon or Marriage Freres. The illustrations are wonderful and it has self guided walking tours that cover the entire city.

This was the guide I used on my first trip to Paris. Not everything that was listed was still there when we got there, some restaurants had changed hands, but it got us to places that even my friends who visit Paris regularly hadn't known about. Great little book
