Hawke is a man to be respected. If you've seen him and his wife in action in man woman wild , you 'll love this book.If you haven't you will still love this book . The information is represented in an easily accessible style .Once reading a south African mercenary pilot's book his name came up as a true trusted operator . that alone should assure of the contents relevancy.

I love this, it reminds me of a book I took everywhere as a boy called 'how to survive'. I doubt I'll ever have to use any of the information in it ( hope i don't have to drink my own urine!) but as every boy scout knows, you have to be prepared.

A superb read.Full of really useful and practical tips.The best book of it's type i come across so far.A bit bigger than say'pocket book' but ok to put in a bag rucksack.Contains really useful diagrams too.For the money i cannot fault it.

It's a compact military style handbook.It covers all the basics of protection, rescue, water and food. Sometimes Hawke gives a modification of a skill like firemaking or waterpurification that is not covered in other survivalbooks. This is what gives it an additional value to the large amount of books.Because Hawke was a medic he also spents a lot of pages covering first aid. Very handy for people who might want to learn more then the basics.It,s a comprehensive guide with sturdy pages you can put in your pack for when things go wrong and you need advice.
