WOW, hifi bargain, soundbar killer
I've been listening and buying hifi for about 36 years now. Always amplifiers or av receivers with different speaker combinations including 5.1 I decided to sell all my equipment and get two pairs of Roxel onyx, one in black and one in oak. The oak is a lovely finish by the way. I'll get the minus points out the way first. Both speakers have hiss on all the inputs, so if you listen to quiet music, you might hear it. The input light can be annoying and it can't be dimmed. I put a piece of black rubber over mine sometimes. The grilles are really stiff and would be better on magnets. Now the positives, Roxel have included all the inputs you could possibly need , RCA for analogue, optical/coaxial better if you've got it and hdmi arc( set your TV to pcm, if you get no sound. Sound, wow I don't miss my seperates anymore. They sound so detailed, I'm hearing sounds I've never heard before. This is accompanied by a smooth sound with the right amount of bass for me personally. Bluetooth is very good, close to CD and I've not had any breakups in my 10 feet range. In fact as soon as I turn on the speakers, my phone starts playing. CDs via analogue RCA or optical/coaxial are just glorious. In fact I tried some Q Acoustics 2020 speakers with a Marantz mcr603 and the Roxel sound better. So they probably sound better than the Q Acoustics active speakers which are three times more. Hdmi arc movies are great, very good clarity clear dialogue and deep bass. I watched FLIGHT with Denzal Washington and the aircraft sounded amazing with deep bass. The Crow was really enjoyable, loud and clear. Spotify via hdmi is a delight, Suzanne Vega headshots and Roxy Music Same old scene sounded like reference recordings. If you've got the space, these speakers not only destroy soundbars but beat most budget speakers and amps. Make sure you space them out for the best sound. INCREDIBLE VALUE £100-£110, thanks Roxel.

Ridiculous value for money
Staggered that these cost so little. I’ve owned loads of speakers - Tannoy, Kef, Monitor Audio, etc - but bought these to take on weekends away so I don’t have to rely on underpowered Bluetooth speakers, but also don’t have the faff of wiring up a full amp and speaker system. So pleased I did. The level of detail they produce is incredible. Great depth to the sound and the bass can really dig deep when you need it to. Bags of volume and an absolute joy to listen to across a wide range of music. I listen to everything, from bands, acoustic, classical, through to house and drum and bass - and they seem to handle everything brilliantly. Outrageous value at £100. I’d happily have paid double. Think I might buy some more before everyone else cottons on…

A Great set of speakers with lots of connection options. BT, Coax, HDMI ARC, Optical
The Roxel Onyx Active bookshelf speakers are a delightful surprise for the budget-conscious audiophile. I approached these speakers with a healthy dose of scepticism, given their price point. However, I was pleasantly taken aback by the rich, detailed sound they produced. While they may not compete with high-end audiophile setups, they certainly punch above their weight. The midrange is where these speakers shine. Vocals are clear and intimate, allowing you to connect with the artist on a deeper level. Guitars, pianos, and other instruments have a natural warmth that is often missing in speakers at this price. The bass response, while not earth-shattering, is surprisingly deep and controlled. It provides a solid foundation for music and doesn't overpower the other frequencies. The highs are crisp and clear, without being harsh or fatiguing. One of the standout features is the versatility. The ability to connect via Bluetooth, RCA, or 3.5mm allows for seamless integration into any setup. Whether you're streaming from your phone, connecting a turntable, or using them with a TV, the Onyx delivers. While they might not create the most expansive soundstage, they still manage to immerse you in the music. For their size, they offer a surprisingly decent sense of space and depth. In conclusion, the Roxel Onyx Active bookshelf speakers are a fantastic option for music lovers on a budget. They offer a surprisingly mature sound with a good balance of frequencies. If you're looking for a pair of speakers to enjoy your favourite tunes without breaking the bank, these are definitely worth considering.

Sounds superb.
Looked at loads of bookshelf speaker reviews on other sites and plumped for these, especially as they have Hdmi ARC connection to use with my TV. So glad I did as this sounds far better than my old 2.1soundbar. The dialogue settings is excellent for normal TV viewing, music one great and movie button fantastic, for only two speakers, the sound quality is miles ahead of my old setup. On rear of main speaker you can find tune bass and treble of each of the three main sound effects. There are plenty of connection options but for TV hdmi is easiest as speakers switch on/off and volume is controlled by TV remote. Am no audiophile but these really are a revelation after my old setup. Recently tried an Dolby Atmos soundbar by a well-known brand at found that sounded dreadful,(especially playing music), personally think that's all marketing hype but each to their own. In all,I would happily recommend these quality bookshelf speakers, great price, solid build, all the connections you'd need and above all fantastic sound.

Awesome sounding speakers
I Love these speakers. I'm using them as wall speakers mounted on brackets. I'm not sure they're as good as the four Wharfedale's I had connected to my separates but having limited space and not wanting a load of wires everywhere I went for these and they sound great. Bluetooth is flawless with no lag and connection to my phone or bluetooth turntable is almost instant. Just make sure that you turn off your phone bluetooth when connecting to a deck as the speakers can't be connected to two things at the same time. Build quality is lovely and they have a good weight to them. The only negative in my view is having to connect the main speaker to the slave speaker via a din cable, but I guess you can't have everything. Highly recommended 👍

A small but impressive speakers
A small speakers with a clear sound an full sound very impressed ,sounds like a large speakers with no loss in performance control and value for money . A must buy look fantastic too 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 I recorded in a flat response finding the tribe was of a decent quality and bass response of a full range even when cranked up to the highest volume was no lose in performance. Have replaced my soundbar as they beat must and the have arc input so great with TV and gaming .

Snakes will love these speakers, but not for me thanks.
The sound quality of these speakers is fairly good. Not the most natural I have heard, but good. Vocals are fairly clear and the bass is solid but not silly (none of that soundbar nonsense where all you get is a constant rumbling earthquake but can hear nothing else). To my ears the, the EQ settings and bass/treble controls make very little discernible difference, but if you are happy with the sound, like I was, all is good. But now the reason I am returning them.... If you are using them as TV ARC HDMI speakers and listening at low volumes, there is a constant audible hiss. It doesn't increase or decrease by changing the volume setting, it's just always there (and present on other inputs, such as RCA in). And if you can tolerate the hiss, it is made more annoying whereby the speakers "auto mute" when the sound level drops to a low level from your audio source. Hiss suddenly gone.... So when listening to quiet moments in a film say, there is that hissing. But if the speakers decide that the input audio level is too low, they auto mute and the hissing stops. Then as the audio level increases again in your film, on come the speakers with the hissing again. hiss.....stop....hissss....stop.....hisss...stop......blimey!! If you switch between TV channels that have no audio, then the effect is the same. I'm guessing that this is some power saving feature of the (hissy) speaker output amplifier that is operating too aggressively. It also happens on the RCA analogue input when you adjust the volume of your audio source to a low level, so I don't believe this is a HDMI compatibility issue with my TV. Now to find a HDMI ARC audio extractor, a good old fashioned analogue amplifier and a pair of second hand passive bookcase speakers....
