Bought as a starter rod/reel into fishing. Surprised at the quality and durability so far, my son is happy.

Wanted a rod that could throw some light, as well as some medium lures, and have enough 'backbone'. This rod fits the bill perfectly.

Not the Shakespeare reel like shown in the photo of the product
Receive the rod with the Slix reel and not the Shakespeare reel that is shown in the photo. This is misrepresentation and the photo should be changed to show the reel that will be applied.

Compact and lightweight yet incredibly strong. A great all-around set. I've caught some large bass and pike on this pole. Very sensitive and a blast to catch fish on. I've been using one for a few years now and bought this one for my 8 year old son. Was a little concerned about an open face reel for him but after a few casts in the back yard he caught on immediately. Compact enough to carry into remote locations.

I was looking for a small travel rod and reel. Have several other Ugly Sticks with good feel and action. Reel is small and light; action is smooth. Holds enough 4, 6, or 8 lb test line to fish. The carrying case is adequate. Great option for camping, travel, hiking.
