Great nutrition, good taste (vanilla review)
I recently started Huel and was pleasantly surprised with the taste. For people concerned with the mixed reviews, I'll try to break it down for you. I think I like the flavor simply because of my odd personal preferences (love all things grain and cookie dough). Here's what the vanilla one REALLY tastes like: grainy/oatmealy batter. It tastes fairly doughy, and a little gritty with the grains. Not super sweet, and has a little tiny tinge of bitterness that I don't really notice unless I really think about it. Imagine cookie dough with minimal sugar and salt. Or cake batter with minimal sugar and salt. I make sure mine is watered down quite a bit just because I prefer it to be thinner and not a thick drink. As for the effects on the body, I've only been using it a few days to supplement my breakfast and lunch with one drink (2 scoops and filled to the brim with water) and have noticed a huge difference already. Reviews on the blog indicate there's usually a transition period where your body needs to adjust, but I've been just fine so far. I've noticed more energy and focus, probably in part because I was eating junk before and now I'm getting a more balanced nutrition. I've also noticed that the high fiber content does change some aspects of the body and day-to-day living. It's one thing that apparently a lot of people struggle with when it comes to their gut and flora adjusting to it but I haven't had that problem yet. What I have noticed though, with regard to the high fiber, is the effects on stool (sorry if it's tmi) but higher fiber can contribute to solidification and I don't recall reading that ANYWHERE in reviews, possibly because people don't want to talk about it. But it's a good thing - helps maintain bowel health and, fun fact, studies have shown a higher fiber diet could reduce the risk of colorectal cancer. If you're contemplating trying it due to flavor, think about my description. It's not your average store-bought drink full of amazing flavor, you simply taste the nutrition and that's it. Consider my description of the flavor, and if you think you can tolerate it (reminder, I bought vanilla) then definitely try it.

Too good to be true
I heard about this product from a truck driver he made a huge deal out of it noway it going to hold up to what he was saying. Well I ordered it and I am sure glad I did i drive a truck I had just got me a German shepherd puppy and on are second trip in the middle of nowhere we break down I had not been able to get to the store and get what she needs or buy groceries yet and now I am stuck having nothing to eat. So I mixed up a big glass of Hulu and slammed it not only did it take care of my hunger it tasted delicious I ended up spending 4 days on nothing but Hulu. And my puppy drank it as well we both made it I felt better and was not hungry I went back to eat food because 14 days with nothing but Hulu and I felt like I needed to put food in my face old habits I should have stayed away from the food because I felt better looked better smelled better and enjoyed it. This product is amazing and I am hooked it's in every one of my emergency prep bags I am amazed that I made it to this point. With nothing but Hulu and I feel better.

Bland but does the job.
I just got my starter package today and so far it’s a good product. Now, that does NOT mean it tastes good. I got the vanilla flavor and it’s bland as hell. I churched it up with half a scoop of chocolate protein powder and half a scoop of banana protein powder. That only helped a little bit. However I’m not consuming it for the taste, but for the healths benefits and quick convenience so that’s what I’m going to review. The consistency is decent and the meal is filling. I drank it slowly, and a couple of hours later I’m still full. I’ll be updating once in a while as I progress. 4 stars for convenience. I docked one star because the package arrived with two scoops, however one of them was cracked. I can’t believe they charge two dollars per scoop. UPDATE:: I just had my second shake and my gas is peeling the paint off the walls. Holy Hell!

Perfect On-The-Go Meal Replacement
I was originally going to try it out for a week before deciding if I liked it or not, but I enjoyed it far more than I expected. It was dropped off while I was at work so I went home on my lunch break to bring it in the house. You can't be too careful these days with people stealing things from your porch in broad daylight. While I was there, I realized I skipped breakfast and drank too much coffee again. I opened my package, read the booklet and made my first bottle with whole milk and a banana, and left for work. By the time I was back, I was half finished with the bottle and feeling pretty full. I really enjoyed the taste and texture. I've tried other "meal replacement" shakes and they always left me feeling off the rest of the day or hungry an hour or so later. They also had an unusually high amount of sugar in them. My days are extremely full-on and something like this alleviates the stress of rushing through preparing breakfast and also saves me from the monotony of cereal when I don't want to deal with cooking. Let's be honest - no matter what you do to your bowl of cereal to spice it up, it's still anticlimactic and you're hungry again 2-3 hours later in the day. Coffee is a beverage not a meal, something I tell myself all the time but don't practice. This small step fills in a nutritional gap at the beginning of my day I've been lacking for quite a while. I felt myself perk up and I'm more focused. I'm definitely a new loyal customer. For those who are concerned about the taste, there's nothing preventing you from deviating from the baseline recipe than your lack of imagination. Next time I plan on adding frozen strawberries and powdered peanut butter to see if I like it. I haven't even looked up the recipes from other people, both shakes and using it as an additive to regular cooking. I really enjoy how versatile this is and look forward to seeing what I can do with it.

It's crazy but i actually gained weight while on this product and i'm pretty good with portion control and being aware of what ...
I buy literally everything from amazon and this is my first review which should say something. I tried this product for a few days and the taste was okay and i didn't experience any of the flatulence that the product description mentioned. However, at 450 calories a serving this product will leave you famished after a mere 2-3 hours MAX. To put this into perspective, i typically eat 3 eggs and 1 slice of bread for breakfast everyday which lasts me a few hours before i hit the gym (i have a muscular/athletic build with about 15% body fat of which i'm trying to lose 3%). In my brief experience, the benefits of this product are negligible when you factor in the the high amount of calories per serving (even if they are "good" calories) compared to the amount of shakes you will have to drink to actually feel satiated. It's crazy but i actually gained weight while on this product and i'm pretty good with portion control and being aware of what i'm putting into my body. I even tried using less water and eating it as an oatmeal in order to "trick" my body into thinking Huel is actually food so that it was digest slower...nope.

Taste is absolutely horrible
I read some great reviews about this product and when I ordered it, I was so looking forward to trying it and making it my new routine. I ordered the vanilla flavor and once I received it, I went to the Huel website and orders the flavors variety pack. The vanilla flavor at first tasted almost like nothing. I didn't think it was appetizing at all but then decided, "hey, maybe I don't need my food to be appetizing." As I continued drinking it over the next several days, the taste went from bland/nothing to just flat out horrible. I don't think the flavor changed necessarily, I just think my taste buds couldn't take it anymore. Still I continued drinking Huel. When I received the flavor packs, I started adding them. They changed the flavor to whatever flavor each pack was but most of them added a very sweet, artificial sugar taste that really wasn't anymore appetizing to eat/drink. If you are used to or like the taste of artificial sweeteners, this may not bother you, and if so, disregard. Lastly, all the while I was drinking Huel, I had horrible gas. I might not have minded it because I have been known to pass gas but this was a different type of flatulence. My gas would empty rooms and was embarrassing. With all that being said, I did manage to lose a *few* pounds. All in all, I decided it wasn't worth it. I received two bags with my order, I still have one bag that has never been opened and I have 1/4 to 1/2 left of the bag I did open.

Taste is decent, seems filling with good nutrition profile
I ordered Huel primarily as a meal replacement shake. I use the vanilla powder plus ice, fresh strawberries and a cup of pineapple juice, mixed together in a Vitamix blender. As such, my scope of review is fairly narrow. It is fairly easy to prepare in a blender (obviously), so I cannot comment on hand preparing the product. It is fairly thick, so I'm not sure how well it would mix up with a standard hand shaker. The taste is fairly good overall, but I do mix in fruit to help it out. The quality of the smoothies made with Huel are fairly good to excellent. Two scoops of Huel (plus fruit and ice) is usually enough for my lunch, and I am using it to lose weight. I will definitely buy Huel again, as I have found it to be a useful and easy tool to help with weight loss.

Fits my Macros, Tastes like Oatmeal
Pros: + Quick and easy to make + Nutritionally balanced, fits with my fitness plan + Comes with a convenient measuring shaker + Neutral Flavor + Guide gives advice and recipes to accomplish your goals Cons: - Takes time to drink because it is so thick for a full serving (3 scoops) - Flatulence is a early side effect but goes away once your body gets used to it Things they can improve on: ~ Mixability, sometimes I get clumps even if I blitz it in the blender. Conclusion: I am happy with Huel, it's one of the better meal replacement shakes in my opinion. You should give it a try if you are on the fence.
