Action comedy co-directed by Mark and Robb Cullen and starring Bruce Willis, Jason Momoa and John Goodman. Working as a private detective having lost his job with the Los Angeles Police Department, Steve (Willis) is well known to just about everyone in Venice, California. Whether he's helping his friend Dave (Goodman) sort out his messy divorce, showing the ropes of detective work to protégé John (Thomas Middleditch), or lending a hand to sister-in-law Katey (Famke Janssen) and her daughter, Steve is rarely short of work. But his situation becomes far less comfortable when his beloved dog Buddy is stolen and he is forced to deal with gang member Spyder (Momoa) and his attempts to recoup losses he holds Steve responsible for.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN VENICE
This cover artwork is very deceiving, makes it look like an Action Movie when in fact it's a Comedy & an actual good 1.Bruce is in Top Comedic Form, I went into this Movie not expecting too much but it really Surprised Me, the whole Cast are funny, I lost count how many times I laughed out aloud..Great Entertainment & really funny..

This gets Rotten Tomatoes scores of 18% (critics) and 25% (audience). The US title was 'Once Upon A Time In Venice' and that's probably a better title. (The 'Venice' here being a suburb of Los Angeles - the one with the canals - which you will have seen from a lot of films over the years.) The plot is like 'Rock 'n' Rolla' and the like ... a set of characters chasing one another in a big circle all based on a couple of basic plots. The difference here is that the film ends on a cliff edge - presumably (?) as a set-up for a sequel. Well, good luck with that.Bruce Willis seems to coast through it. His role could have been played by a lot of other actors. Why did he sign up for this? The script is OK but lacks clarity. The rest of the cast work hard and do their best ... the lack of impact, coherence, flow and 'punch' has more to do with the direction.If you miss this you won't miss a lot ... and you will save a few quid you can spend on something better.

You know what you get with Bruce Willis - this was an enjoyable (if silly in places) BW film but not as good as his others - some real laughs in places and liked his partners character.

the fight scenes are great as is the storyline, and yet again Bruce Willes is great in this one.
