A really good read.
Having read books 1 and 2 and 5 in the saga, I was really interested to find out what happened to Keziah and Henry, and I wasn't disappointed. I find the descriptions of the cruel conditions in the mill and workhouse quite difficult to read, but the writing is never gratuitous and fires the imagination. I swallowed this book whole, it's a really enjoyable read. It didn't matter that I read them out of order, but I'm going to go back and read them all again in the correct order just because I can!

ANOTHER WINNER AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR LOVERS OF HISTORICAL FICTION !!
Oh I am relishing this saga - if possible it gets better and better with each book. Really enjoyed this particular story with its vivid descriptions of life in the workhouse and the cotton mill. Good to "catch up" with Eva's little family and see how they were coping after she was transported to Australia. Having visited Quarry Bank and New Lanark, I could really relate to and visualise the conditions that our characters endured - Dawn has obviously done her research and portrays the background to the story extremely well ! Also, Dawn has certainly developed a riveting and winning formula with this particular saga - I hope (and believe) that there is more to come .......... really hope so as don't wish this series to end !!! Would also make good television / film.
