Damaged text book and only received 1 of the two books

This is a 2 volume textbook and is very expensive. Only volume 1 was delivered. The book arrived damaged with all corners scraped or torn. The cover is loose at the spine as though it has been dropped. There was insufficient padding in the box to keep the book from slipping around in transit. This book appears as though it has been sold before and returned. This was superior to be a gift. I am very disappointed.
