Don't know. I use them (red) for astronomy, writing in the dark while maintaining night vision. In that capacity, the light is perfect. Sometimes the ink doesn't flow when it's cold, as with all pens. Good luck. John

they send you a bunch of refills and extra batteries in the package with the pens. In most of my experience you will wear the pen out before you run out of refills. Also if you send them a message here on amazon directly they will be able to get you extra refills if you manage to keep the pen in good shape.
