Excellent Overview of Government & Citizenship
I got this book to use for discussions on Citizenship with my 10 year old and I was a bit worried that the reading was completely going over her head. She wasn't really grasping the concepts.Today we opened up to read about nominations and......"Why is democracy the best form of government? Shouldn't we welcome change in our society and government? How many parties do we have in the US? Who are you voting for? Why are you voting for them? If you could just write in anyone's name, why doesn't everyone do that for the election? If our government turns corrupt and begins telling us to do things we know are wrong, what do we do? How do we do the right thing acting against the government even when we're scared?"An hour discussion later and we finally got to discussing the process of nomination.I rated the book a 4 only because some of the information is outdated, but not enough to make buying the book not worth it. The outdated parts will be clear to any educated parent (Africa, South America, and Asia are no longer primarily tribal people groups) and can either be edited to be current or you can correct the information prior to reading.Overall, this book has been excellent in spurring meaningful conversation with my daughter on the nature of our government and her place in it.

Review to follow once I've read it.
Haven't read it yet but wanted to add photos for others. It has 35 chapters and 4-8 review questions at the end of each chapter. It looks like it will work just fine for a homeschool co-op or individual study guide.
