Mestemacher Whole Grain Bread (Organic Whole Rye, 17.6 oz, pack of 6)

I have purchased this bread for many years from various sellers including Amazon. Very good quality and tasty AND it’s real rye bread, unlike the “rye bread” one gets in US bakeries. If Amazon ships this product in a box with adequate packing, loaves arrive intact. I love this bread, but not as much now that it has a 15% tariff added to the price.

I've enjoyed this bread form Amazon and elsewhere. Having nothing to do with my rating, but hopefully useful for other customers: This is not the bread that most people in the US is are used to. It is VERY dense and a very different consistency, VERY whole grain (rough), so may not be what many like. Slices are VERY thin. This also make it more likely to crumble, sometimes get moldy too, in shipping. This is a high sodium and salt bread, so if you are on a salt restricted diet, not for you. My own review, rating related: I grew up on high and whole grains, so used to UN-American rough textured foods like this. While I am not on any salt restricted diet, I find the salt too high for my taste. One of the reasons we use less. At times, crumbling during shipping, and some mold, can be a problem. Also, the price has increased since my last order, now more expensive than other sellers including my local health food grocer, has made me cut the amount on my next scheduled Subscribe and Save order by more than half (60%)...I may just cancel it and get it locally. Hope you find this useful!

Best toasted. We’ve been buying this for many years as a healthy alternative to white flour breads. It’s very important that it’s shipped in a size appropriate protective box. A different shipper put it in an envelope and all the edges were broken and crushed. (The slices are thin and fragile). Thanks JF Dist. for packaging my 6 loaves properly!

I was reading an article of how beneficial true rye bread was. I tried to find it in the US. No, true rye bread here. Off to Amazon I go! Found this and I am never looking back! This is wonderful and has a great flavor and texture. I toast my and add olive oil on top with a cup of tea. Makes a perfect light breakfast. Just FYI, Amazon has a great real olive oil for a reasonable price. It has a lovely flavor that compliments the bread.

Wonderful bread. Good toasted. Dense consistency. Try this: cream cheese, turkey, a drizzle of olive oil, pepper jack cheese, seed mustard and fresh Basil.
