New Morning Mercies (Note-Taking Edition)

It is beautiful with a nice size margin
I’ve use this devotional various times over the last several years. The daily lessons are really solid. This version is found beautifully and a full leather cover. It is a thin book and therefore the print is a little bit on the smaller side, but not terrible for me with my 3.0 readers. There are really size margins for notetaking, but there are no lines to write on. I bought this for personal use, but it would make a beautiful gift as well. I do think the $34 price tag is a little bit steep, but I had a specific reason for wanting it without price shopping.

Daily Gospel, challenge, & application
The media could not be loaded. As I’ve grown in my walk with God, I’ve come to find I’m at my best when I’m constantly engaged in relationship with Him. Just like any relationship, you need to invest and constantly communicate in order to grow and know Him better. For me, that means constant prayer, a Christ-centered community, and daily Bible reading and devotional. If I stray from any of these, I’m so likely to return back to my old ways.So for my daily reading, of course there’s no substitute for the Bible itself and reading God’s Word directly. But in addition to daily Bible reading, a daily devotional can really help me see scripture with another perspective, grow in new ways, and start my day off with a Christ-centered attitude.Which is why I treasure this New Morning Mercies daily devotional. It’s not only scripture driven at its core, but it also challenges you daily, and encourages application. So the Christ-centered life doesn’t stop when the reading stops, we need to apply what we learn and share with others throughout our days. This 365 day devotional encourages me if I’m down and motivates when I’m content, so I’m in the right frame of mind as I head out. A wonderful workbook for an entire year. And I don’t see anything wrong with starting back at the beginning once finished. Definitely something worth repeating, so take plenty of notes to share with yourself next time! Please note: My review is part of Amazon's Vine Program which provides products at a reduced cost in exchange for honest, accurate reviews. Great Tool
I, typically, do not like to use devotionals. Often times, I find, devotional books are more shallow in their approach to Scripture. This one is different. There have only been a couple days during the past month when I found the daily reading did not hit home for me. These daily devotionals focus on what is really important rather than getting caught up with trivial things. The readings are more about what we should think than necessarily about what we should do. Paul David Tripp does a great job of thinking deeply and helping readers engage with the Bible and with God. As I talk to others, I find myself quoting things from this book all the time. I have found it helpful to highlight certain points and to write a general topic on the top of each reading's page. This helps remind me of what was important so I can easily look back at it. Each reading directs the reader to a Bible passage or at times part of a reading will be a direct quote from God's Word. There is a Scripture Index at the back of the book (like all Crossway books) but no general index in this one. I have used this a few times to find the author's thoughts on a passage I'm studying. I'm also adding those topic headings that I write at the top of each page to a more topical index that I'm creating at the back of the book.I love the quality feel of the soft leather (not sure if it's real or not) cover. Except for the width, the dimensions of the book are larger than my ESV Study Bible. The large margins are a great place to add a few notes or symbols.

Notes
This edition is great for the space you have to take notes. These aren't deep exegetical reflections. Rather, they are good morning reflections to help you start the day in a God-oriented fashion. To have the note taking space gives you room to respond to the Lord in prayer. The cover and binding are good quality as well.

A Thoughtful Devotional with Space to Reflect
This note-taking edition of New Morning Mercies is an absolute gem! What I love most is how it balances inspiration and reflection in a simple, daily format. Each day's devotion has a meaningful message, grounded in scripture, and leaves you with something to think about throughout the day. There’s plenty of space in the margins to jot down your thoughts, prayers, or anything that resonates with you, perfect for making it a truly personal journey.I’ve found that some days are uplifting, while others gently remind me to be more patient and graceful, especially on tough days. It’s beautifully bound in faux leather, so not only is it practical, but it also feels like something special to have around, whether it’s for yourself or as a thoughtful gift. It's definitely one of those devotionals you’ll want to revisit year after year!

Beautiful Keepsake Gift or for Personal Use
This note-taking edition of New Morning Mercies is beautiful and perfect to give as a keepsake gift or for your own personal daily use. I try to have a morning quiet time to myself before the day gets noisy and crazy busy. This year-long devotional book has a one page reading for each day with a quote and then thoughts about it, and a scripture passage or verse to reference. Some days give hope or purpose, others remind me to give grace & love to those around me, even on the hard days. I got this book in hardback first and now I'm really thrilled to have the note-taking in faux leather. It's really great to have the area for journaling thoughts on each page and it is easy since the binding is flexible being faux leather instead of hardback.
