Product Description OOLONG TIE GUAN YIN Oolong is a type of tea that falls between green and black tea in terms of oxidation levels; Our Oolong tea comes from the Fujian province of China – a mountainous region famous for good tea; The term “Tie Guan Yin” in English means: “Iron Goddess of Mercy” and it is a highly regarded type of Oolong tea; This tea has characteristic curly shapes and a complex flavour profile, floral notes and a lingering sweetness; Best to be enjoyed on its own or with sugar or honey. The leaves can be steeped multiple times, revealing different layers of flavour with each infusion (see below); Oolong tea is slightly caffeinated, similarly to green tea. It contains a range of antioxidants, including many found in both green and black teas. MULTIPLE INFUSIONS We test our teas for how many times you can re-use a single portion of the loose tea. Please be aware that you may get different results due to differences between tea harvests, water quality and hardness and so on. Parameters Using 1.5 teaspoon (3.3g) of tea; 300ml of water at 80°C. Brewing 1st infusion: steeped for 3 minutes, 2nd: 3.5 minutes, 3rd: 6 minutes. Results We made 3 cups of tea with almost identical colour and just slightly less flavour (about 10% loss at each infusion) – but the tea was getting smoother too, with fewer grassy notes. We poured hot water over the leaves the 4th time, leaving it for about 30 minutes and the tea was still good. HIIP'S TIPS The leaves open up during brewing, expanding their volume so it's better to use a teapot. If using a strainer make sure there's enough room for the leaves to expand . Always use freshly drawn water - only use as much as you need for one infusion. Definitely avoid re-using the water that have been in the kettle for more than a day. If you have temperature-controlled kettle, set your preferred brewing temperature and do not fully boil the water unless you are not sure if the water is of a good quality. If you intend to store the tea for longer, move the contents of the pouch to an airtight container; Did you know that you could use spent tea leaves as composting material? Either add it to your compost or use directly around the roots of your home or garden plants.

Review: Tastes good, a little goes a long way - I'm not a tea drinker, so my wife tried this. I gave up counting when she'd said "this is REALLY nice" for the sixth time. Intrigued, I took a sip. I have to say, it was actually alright. And I really don't like tea. So this is more of a green tea, taken without milk or sugar. It has a pleasant taste and I can see that it would be really refreshing. Unlike most leaf tea (the cheaper versions of which are almost like dust), the leaves here are entire leaves, dried and curled up. After steeping they unfurl, so you need to allow a bit of room in your pot for them. Whilst not cheap, you don't need much of this tea. A teaspoonful of leaves in the pot is easily enough for 2 - 3 cups; AND you can make a second pot with the same leaves, with very little reduction in tea strength. I wouldn't go so far as my wife, but yes, I actually like this tea.

Terrible quality tea, there is no fragrance to it what so ever. It's very bog standard and shouldn't be described as 'premium'. If you get the good stuff from Asia it will normally be in vac packed foil to preserve freshness and perfume.
