For the price this is an ok chess set, it does have a few flaws.This set is very small, so if you want something that can fit into a coat pocket this will work (perhapse for analysis or a quick game) If however you want to play a lot of semi serious games this is probubly too small.Pieces are magnetic but do begin to slide around at about 45 degree angle, and some will fall off if the board is turned upside down. considering how tiny and light the pieces are the magnets are extremely week if they cant hold them, still this is good enough to not have them fall every time you nudge the board.two major flaws are present:hindges of the board are plasic pieces that are bent in half and keep bending every time you open and close it. at some point they will simply fall apart (this is a problem with most of the plastic magnetic chess sets as they are all made in the same factories with same hindge design)the other issue is that botoms of the pieces have no felt or soft material, so the magnets touch and scratch the paint on the board as you move them. you can get a sheet of stick-and-peel felt for a dollar and do some arts and crafts or ignore the issue and replace the whole thing when the time comes.Over all if you know what to expect and want cheap and very portable this will do.

Great little set. Board is beautiful and does not look cheesy. Trouble was I got three black rooks and only one white rook. Had to order another set to even things out.

Better than I expected. Size is big enough to not lose but not too bulky you will decide not to bring it with.

Good value for the money.Light, with magnets strong enough for something this size.Easily scratched, so I’m placing it in a material bag with zipper.Glad I purchased. 🙂

The magnets and size are great, but you can't Queen a pawn on top of a castle

Disappointed. Overall it could have been a very nice set if the magnets had any strength to them at all. While setting up the pieces on the board the pieces would slide and some would drop off the board. I spent several days trying to enhance the magnetism. I did manage to improve the magnetism some by having the pieces set on very, very strong magnets. This seemed to improve the magnetism some but not real well. One thing you must be aware of is these pieces are hard to find if the set is knocked or a piece drops to the floor, so, caution is necessary when you use the set to play a game. I cannot recommend this set based on the magnet strength. The magnetism is poor at best.

the set had 2 queens for black and no king, and the magnets were deformed and did not completely stick into them pieces, but they were very good about refunding the money, and thats why i put 3 stars
