A factual book to turn to help.

I have been painting all my life ( a very long time!) with various media, but there is always more to learn so thought a comprehensive book on water colour may inspire me to try different methods. It is always a risk buying an on line book which you can't peruse written by a single author, as with painting you may not like their style. Fortunately this is one I like and the techniques and tips you could apply to most styles. I am therefore going to try things that I've not done before and hope that in this time of being at home so much I may find new inspiration to do watercolours.

The media could not be loaded.  This is a wonderful watercolour techniques book by Robin Berry.It's packed with lots of insightful and concise tips. It's not just on watercolour tips but also on general drawing principles such as composition, using values, etc. One chapter features tips on dealing with different subjects, like landscape, water, flowers, people, buildings, animals, etc.9 step-by-step demonstrations are included. They particularly good because they show and explain the techniques as they are used. The instructions are clear and they detail each painting process. There are beautiful paintings as examples throughout, from Robin Berry herself and other invited artists.The last chapter covers techniques used to create effects, like spraying, glazing, removing colours. It's a short chapter but the examples are great.It's an insightful and inspiring compendium suitable for beginners. This book is an excellent resource if you’re new to watercolours or more advanced. It’s a book you’ll go back to again and again. I purchased from a second hand bookseller on amazon and it was like new but for half the price.

Full of interesting ideas for achieving various effects while painting,, pity the examples have to small to fit the available space as it can be difficult to appreciate the effect being shown.It is a compendium of ideas, it is not an instruction book although there are some worked examples.

Excellent. Lots of tips, well written step by step demonstration for some specific technique. And paintings and artwork to demonstrate and support the text and description. Saw this book in a library and what attracted me to buy it was the chapter on 'Masking for rich texture', showing how the artist David Poxon painted the 'Old Blue Door'

Well! We can not learn from the old masters, so a well compiled art advice books is the way to go. This was expensive, but has a lot in it for its petite size. My eye site is poor, so have to use a mag glass to read it, but it is packed to the brim with stuff for ease of reference when you work. Its a starter book for me to rekindle my art interests and bring back hidden abilities I hope. Its A4 size by the way and type is font 7 or 8, so not for the poor sited to use, so will most likely go to UK book store and buy one that is for the poor sited.

I saw this book for sale at an art show in London, and bought another book instead. the next day, I went back to get it, and found it was all sold out. I couldn't remember the exact title, but know the publisher' name. Then I embarked on an online adventure in finding the book! I was thrilled I finally did, but even more thrilled when the book arrived and it was everything I wanted and MORE!!I have probably twenty books on watercolor technique and this is, hands down, the BEST. I highly recommend it, and hope it stays in print.

This has so many techniques and gives full explanation of materials.
