Great trap. Customer service not so much.
This trap works great if you have it placed in the right spot. Finding the right spot can be tricky and you might need to move it if you don't trap something in a day or two. Gopher Hawk's customer service is pretty bad though. I have a trap that won't set and I contacted Gopher Hawk about the issue. They told me two different times that they would send me repair parts and they never did. I gave it five stars only for it's performance. I would give their customer service a one if I could.

Great tool, better than other traps
I have moles I have been chasing for months. Scissor traps and spike traps didnt work. Countless futile attempts and between 4 of those traps I never caught one. 3 days with this trap and I caught them. These are so much simpler than other traps and are very easy to setup. I also think these are safer than traditional traps, there's no exposed parts and you can discharge is by knocking it.

Buy these they really work!
I love these traps! Got my 3rd Mole this week. Hoping that’s the last one so I can get my yard back in shape. I have used these when needed over the past 3-4 years and they are fantastic. Get the 2 pack with the plastic stake with the metal rod in the cap. Use that to find the hole. Push plastic spike into the ground deep to make room for your trap. If you don’t go deep enough you will get dirt or mud in the trap when setting it and it won’t work. Must be set with room for the mole or Vole to hit the trigger.

Easy to use and works (an updated review)
Edit: Lowering my rating to 3 stars after experiencing what so many others have reported. Literally after using this device a few times, the metal snares are messed up. And I am super careful with placement and making sure the device isn’t lifted or moved after being set. What a disappointing design. Needs modifications to not damage itself so easily. It also doesn’t want to lock when setting quite often, meaning repeated attempts. Beware if you have rocky soil this device might not be a good fit for you. Five stars this absolutely fantastic device. Was using the Gophinator spring tension traps and was very frustrated. After a month of setting those- I was only able to catch one. Too much digging involved. No indication of if they caught anything. They would often go off simply while being placed in the hole- having you reset them and trying again. My neighbor told me about the GopherHawk- and to “not waste my mine with those metal traps”. Within 24 hours, I’d caught two moles. The yellow indicator is so handy for letting you know if you caught something or to just leave it alone. Get the kit. The wedge tool comes with a prove that makes locating tunnels easy. Before lowering the trap, see how the metal “tines” line up so they are not impeding the line of traffic used by the mole. Set into the ground, pull lower part of trap up to set and leave it. Don’t fuss with it. Once you’ve caught your mole, clean off the tines. Never lower a set trap back into the ground or you’ll bend the metal pieces. So glad I have this tool!!

Worked Great… Until Something Stole the Gopher AND the Trap 😂
It worked for the few days that we had it!.. Caught the first rodent within 2 days. Unfortunately, the 2nd time we used it, it trapped something towards the end of the night and a wild animal must have caught its scent. because the dead gopher AND the trap were GONE in the morning!! We have looked all over our property and neighboring yards with no luck. We do get raccoons, possums, and coyotes nearby, so my best guess is that one of them took the GopherHawk along with their midnight snack takeout. 🥲 I am extremely disheartened at the loss of our trap, as the gophers are taking pillage of my vegetable garden. Although the trapped worked miracles for the short time that we had with it, I am uncertain if I will purchase another one at this time - both due to the high cost, and the amount of time this product took to ship and be delivered. I highly recommend the Gopher Hawk (though I obviously can’t speak on its longevity), but be wary of any thieving creatures nearby!! 👀

My Favorite Gopher Trap
I've tried a number of box type traps and the GopherHawk has been the most consistent of all of them. Purchasing a second one because my back yard has got more gophers than one trap can handle. Instead of having to dig a large hole to situate the box at the opening where the gopher may or may not come back out of. With this trap you can insert it into the tunnel path itself so I feel creates a greater chance for the gopher to travel through vs an exit hole into the air. The trap is super easy to set and see when it has been triggered. The hole required to insert the trap into the ground is only around 1 1/2" in diameter (note when you catch the gopher you'll generally need to widen the hole to pull it out of the ground). I've been using my first trap for the past couple of years and it still operates perfectly and doesn't show any weathering from being out in sunny/foggy environment here on the pacific coast. Only thing I found is that it isn't as effective in very sandy soil as the unit requires stability to keep from leaning over. I typically will support the sides with rocks or other objects to keep it vertical and stable when being triggered.

Simple to set.
We paid a guy to come deal with our moles and he did a great job. Cost us $150 set up fee and then $50 a mole. He caught 3 in our yard and we were clear. The next summer there were more, I bought 3 of these traps and caught 3 moles that summer...and every summer since. They work great for us, and are simple to set up. It did take us a bit to learn where in the tunnel system to place them, and to have patience with them, but they work really well.

Trap is easy to emplace and effective
Living in a rural mountainous area in southern California, I am in a constant battle with gophers. I find GopherHawk traps easier to use than box-type traps. The latter require some careful excavation into the tunnel with a lot of spade work to accommodate the box and its spring mechanism while still blocking the light. I have purchased a number of GopherHawk traps, including also one probe device I use, together with larger garden stakes, to locate tunnels. You can also use the probe kit to enlarge the hole to accommodate the trap. Once you have enlarged the hole, you drop in some bait—I often use carrot chips—and then insert the trap vertically into the tunnel and cock it. When triggered, the trap pops up to show a yellow marking. I prefer the tangible evidence you get when using a trap. There are a couple of challenges to using these traps successfully. Sometimes it can take a lot of probing to find the tunnel. Also, if the tunnel is too shallow, it can be hard to insert enough of the trap into the ground to get the leverage needed for it to work successfully. But overall, I find this trap design to be superior to the other types I have tried. So far, none I have purchased have worn out despite a lot of use. I did purchase a spare cage in case one is damaged. A video seems to indicate it is pretty easy to install.

Good for moles
Very good for small garden, when you have few 'visitors'. For large "invasions" taking ages to cleaning. Buying more - too expensive play. You must wait even 24 hours for results. But for prevention best "tool" I ever had.

Pocket Gophers don't stand a chance. Buy this.
I fought with pocket gopher holes for a year. I tried everything. Every morning there would be new mounds of dirt. My hopes were that the freezing weather of Alberta over the winter would rid my yard of these relentless beasts. As soon as the ground was thawed enough this spring, they started again. Other traps, gas bombs, spikes that vibrate and make noise...nothing worked on these dirt terminators for almost 12 months. I felt like Bill Murray in Caddyshack. When I closed my eyes at night I saw them in my dreams. Burrowing. Mocking me. Dynamite was my next option. I put the GopherHawk out on a Saturday afternoon at about 4:30pm. By early Sunday morning the spring had popped. After everything else I tried, this thing worked in a matter of hours. I was victorious. I had conquered nature. This is an 11 out of 10 product and works even better than advertised.

Good for short time
Worked great and caught 3 gophers quite quickly. the trigger no longer works and is now useless. A lot of money for something that doesn’t work long term.
