Black Halo

This will probably be the album that puts Jon DeRosa's name on the map. Very different from earlier releases, Black Halo showcases DeRosa's skill as a crooner extraordinaire. It's amazing how well this man's voice is suited to this style of music. It's also amazing how much commercial potential these songs have. If you like Roy Orbison and Morrissey, there's a good chance you'll go ape over this one. This one just might blow you AWAY.

I received this cd as a gift from a friend and have been listening to it nonstop. The melodies are haunting and ethereal with cello, violin, an unusual variety of soft percussion and what sounds like wind chimes that take you on a journey to another place, perhaps another dimension. Vocals are rich and soothing, and lyrics convey an "other-worldly" vibe. This music does not fit into any genre I know of. It is truly unique, beautiful, haunting, and unforgettable.
