...All the Marbles

Loving the California Dolls
I've loved this film for ages since I saw it on the TV years back. It's a sort of Rocky in the world of wrestling story made by the quirky Robert Altman who injects a whole load of life and fun into the story of two attractive female wrestlers who get a shot at the national title despite the best efforts of their failing manager. This has never been released on DVD since it hasn't got the appeal, but Warner Bros' has a print on demand arm now and this is one of their titles. You need a multiregion DVD player to watch it, so make sure that you're not region locked, but otherwise this is a most welcome addition to my collection.

Some fine performances from lead actors.
Peter Falk plays the manager of a ladies tag team wrestling duo, whom spend their lives on the road going from one venue to another. He has also been in a relationship with one of them.He has to manage the purse strings and fend off promoters whom try to rip them off. This is a feel good movie as the girls fight their way to a title match and a chance of big money.

Aldrich + Falk = smart entertainment
Probably not one of Aldrich's best, yet a funny, cynical and anarchic film about sport, america and entertainment industry and business. Peter Falk is gigantic as usual
