Nickel Content Very Low, if Present
The nickel content of this 15n20 must be very, ver,y low, I can get no contrast from forge welding this and 1095 together even on the edges. I would not purchase again, be wary if you are attempting to construct a Damascus pattern blade. Very disappointing to spend the time to cut, clean, forge weld and hammer out a blade to find that you could have simply ground out a piece of 1095 and made a knife without all the work of forge welding to see no discernable difference. As I have not attempted to harden the steel as of yet, I do not know if the carbon content is on par with the .75 of carbon which is supposed to be present. 15n20 should have a nickel content of 1.5, however, I would imagine it is more than likely around the .2 range given the non-discernable pattern you achieve when making a Damascus blade.

It's good steel
Bought this for knife making and after a little prep work have made a decent layered steel knife out of it and a few other steels in a canister damascus with great results

15n20 is has little to no nickel content. There is no contrast. Not as advertised.

Want to say it's good
Everything looks to be in order. It's packaged well, sturdy and tough, and was cut well. The project I was using it for fell through, so I cannot say how well it do being heat treated. I don't have any reasons, though, to believe it would have issues.

Quality control was weak on this batch
Worked fine after straightening and flatlining. I purchased these before and they were perfect. This batch had heavy burrs as well. Quality control missing on this batch. The finished blades hardened ok and made quality knives, just needed extra labor.

It's a good quality 1084 steel that heat treats well and is a bit thinner (.005") than nominal 1/8" but it's close enough for my purposes of making knives.
