Fills the gap
I got this to fill a gap between a wall and our screened porch to keep bugs out. I wanted something besides spray foam because the foam always looks messy.

Shrinking alert
I was excited at the beginning since I've finally found a rod that fits my gap which is larger than 1 inch. It fits perfectly at first, with a little squeezing which I suppose is a good thing since it means tight filling, but after a couple of weeks of sunny days of southern Texas comes the first rain, I noticed the gap is loosen and falling into the gap already. The funny thing is, the water is going under the rod and the rod is floating (see pic). I recommend using the other product from the same company with a flappy wing, which is more lightweighted but once pushed in it's locked to the side of gap and the flappy wing would keep water around. I've used that one to seal a similar wide gap and it survivals the same rain. Just remember to buy a larger size, the larger the better (as long as you can push them into the gap).

Great Backer Rod
I used these for a crack the ranged from 1/8 to 1/2 inch. I was able to shove it in and they held the patch in place. These are great.

works great
This works really well. I was able to fill in the crack above my kitchen windows and spackle over it. It has helped keep the house cooler, since I no longer have a 1" gap letting hot air in a cool air out. It works fine, all is as expected. Nice and squishy to push into the gap and then expands to fit the space.

Good backer rod.
This backer rod has a triangular cross-section, rather than the standard round stuff. This one is also much more rubbery. The odd shape and the soft material create many advantages over standard backer rod. The material lays flat, and stays where it's put -- unlike the gray stuff that constantly wants to coil back up. This backer rod is much easier to trim to a narrower piece if needed; because there are corners for visual alignment, and the material is easier to work with. I have not had any issues with static electricity using this new backer rod -- unlike the old gray stuff that seems to want to cling to everything. Although smooth, this stuff is not as slick as the old gray stuff; which makes covering sections of it with a very thin layer of caulking easier. This stuff can be coiled up like a piece of rope, for easy storage and transport -- unlike the traditional stuff that springs open and gets tangled with everything if not properly tied, taped, bagged, or otherwise secured. Bottom line: Really good stuff. Definite keeper. I'll be ordering more of it in different sizes.

A bit narrow
The gaps in our concrete are not all the same width. Most are wider than 3/4 inch. In the smaller gaps, this device worked well. In wider gaps, it just laid in there loosely.
