Top & bottom hooks are built in & study enough to support large (heavy) feeders- Versatile - usable with any feeder designThis product effectively and immediately solved a difficult ant problem wherein ants set up a large colony of anthills around the hummingbird feeder, climbed the pole the feeder hangs from, indulged on the sugar water, and ended up floating dead in the sugar water making the feeder useless to birds and an unwelcome cleaning task for me.When I installed this, the ants gave up climbing the feeder pole within ONE day!The reason is they can't swim. They encounter a deep pool of water in the moat, turn around and head back down the pole. Unsuccessful reaching the sugar water that they will over-consume, ants get to live -- which is good since ants do benefit the ecosystem. Since installation, more hummingbirds visit the feeder more frequently and often in groups because the quality of the sugar water is now consistent and free of ants.We like this product so much we're buying bought more hummingbird feeders to use with the other 3 moats.If you only need one moat, you might consider keeping another as a backup and gifting the rest to birder friends - it's a great gift, even when giving just one since many people need just one. The media could not be loaded. Ants aren't built for treading water. They don't swim very well although they kind of manage in shallower waters if there's enough surface tension. But they will more instinctively turn away from a deeper pool. Honestly, I don't even like killing ants so anything that serves as a deterrent is AOK in my book. And that's why I like these moats. They are deep, not excessively wide, and hold an ample supply of water.You get FOUR moats for under $10, complete with stainless hardware that screw cleanly into brass threaded inserts. That's right, the hooks mate with embedded brass inserts -- they don't just screw into plastic. That's a mark of a good product. Included are 4 feeder port cleaning brushes, a nice touch.Hummingbird Feeder Ant Moats from KNOWONE... very well-made, simple and effective. And you just may see a bird or two drinking from them.

In the past I have made some simple ant moats, but misplaced them along the way. Decided to give these a try. Four moats at a very reasonable price. Quality was as expected. Easy to assemble and worked perfectly. They actually survived a pretty good storm today. I like that the moats hold about four ounces of water, so they should last a few days. We have a lot of hummers right now and the ants were just starting to show up on the feeders. A simple way to prevent the ants from getting to them.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I wasn’t sure these adorable little ant moats would be strong enough to handle my larger (and quite heavy!) 32oz hummingbird feeder—but they surprised me in the best way! Not only do they support the weight like champs, but they also add the sweetest vintage touch to the setup.I’ve had the extra heavy one hanging for 4 weeks now with zero issues—no sagging, no spills, and most importantly, no ants! I also have them on my smaller feeders, and they’re working beautifully across the board.So far, I’m thoroughly impressed. If anything changes down the road, I’ll update—but as of now, I’m a happy customer and my hummingbirds are too!

I have not had to wash ants out of my hummingbird feeders all summer. They don't even bother crawling up the hook anymore. These ant motes are sturdy, withstanding the 100 degree blazing Arkansas summer. Solid, seamless construction prevents any leaks. Well worth the investment, has made keeping my feeders clean a much quicker and more enjoyable task.

Great for protecting hummingbird or regular bird feeders. Easy to assemble and fill with water. Bonus: Keeps birds hydrated!
