Rich colours poor dialogue. Bit over the top almost spoof quality in part.

The film is carefully made and explores the horrors of the inquisition as caught in some of Goya's sketches. The plot explores the injustices felt by ordinary people as they are swept along by political events beyond their control or understanding. Whether you have an interest in history, drama, art history, religion or politics there's something for everyone in this film.

Stellan Skarsgard is brilliant as usual - watch it and you won't be disappointed!

This is an excellent classic story.which emphasizes how third world the rest of this planet was when these people had such intelligence.

Great cinematography and acting, the screenplay has a flaw... in any case it is the last film of Milos Forman - deserves to be seen

Film making and acting at its best to the smallest detail. The story is set in late 18th century and the Roman Catholic Church still rules life and thinking. Life was not worth a penny then and this film shows us that and is scary in its intensity.

I saw this a few years ago and remembered really enjoying it - it was even better than I remembered, a great film at a great price.
