Energenie MIHO004 Monitor Adapter 12.6 x 9.2 x 8 cm

Nice bit of kit that tells me what the consumption of an individual device is. I used it to see how much a trickle charger for a car was costing to be connected 24x7. It's showing 3 watts so a negligible amount (about £4 per year). One thing to remember is that these will contribute to the consumption (it has to be powered from somewhere) When i checked one of the switching plugs it was consuming about 2 watts so don't go adding them everywhere or its a false economy. Love the fact that the company does add on boards for the Raspberry Pi to control their kit.Just wish they would add an IRDA receiver to their MiHome control hub so you could use a universal remote to control the power sockets. Also if they could do a Gas usage monitor as per Loop Energy Saver Gas Monitor that would be great.

Received this today and plugged it in, only to discover that you require the gateway in order for this to even work. Description midleading and does not highlight well this fact. Especially considering most people will only briefly read the description if the description is lengthy. A bold highlighted point (or something in the main description) might help others from making the same mistake I did. Disappointed with this product as I can't even review it properly due to the fact it is unusable.

Whilst you can't control this plug, it's perfect to monitor energy usage on something that you don't want to switch off. I use them on my fridge freezer in the kitchen, and my freezer in the garage. I love that you can see a full breakdown of energy usage, hourly, daily, monthly and yearly. Very pleased with them.

I had an unusual application for this device, the guys @mihome were incredibly helpful, and the set up is functioning better than I hoped.I am impressed by the quality, price and service offered by this company and will shortly use them in another project.

I think these are excellent- incredibly easy to set up and if you want to get the data out to create your own dashboards there is great API documentation.

This is great as a part of a MiHome setup for monitoring power consumption, but beware that it ONLY offers monitoring. If you want both monitoring AND switching then you MIHO005 Adaptor Plus. And, confusingly, the latter is often cheaper than the former.

Bought one of these directly from Energenie (slightly cheaper than Amazon). Works brilliantly, nothing bad to report at all. So good, I've ordered two more!
