Almost Sun-Proof, autistic heaven
It looks stupid, but it works wonders in the garden. The contraption is just a little uncomfortable, and I am autistic so that is saying a lot. I can go anywhere and have my own hands free personal shade. I burn so bad in the sun, this makes it possible for me to enjoy my gardening even if bending down is a challenge. I was outside in full coastal sun for two hours with no sunburn weeding, this thing worked like a charm.

10/10 from my daughter
Guess what I just used??So here’s a full Amazon style review for you:This umbrella hat is the greatest thing I never knew I needed. My dad bought me this because I despise the rain (like seriously have an aversion to it) and I can’t hold an umbrella and my dog and a poop scooper at the same time to walk her while it’s raining. I just used it this morning and I was blown away (don’t worry, not literally) by how awesome it is. It was a gift so I knew nothing about it but the photo on the package. I wasn’t expecting it to have a full frame to secure to your head nor was I expecting said frame to be so well-fitting. If it’s not windy, you don’t even need the chin strap at all. About halfway through the wind picked up a tiny bit and I just tightened the chin strap and kept on going. I also did not expect this to be a FULL SIZE UMBRELLA… I mean I was bone dry when I got back inside. Listen I know nobody needs another umbrella. We have 7 already for god knows what reason… but everyone needs this. I can think of so many other ways I could use this… carrying stuff out to the car from the house, pushing the grocery cart out to the car after shopping, walking to the mailbox to get a package and all the mail, etc. My dad even suggested wearing it in the garden on a hot day to give me some shade which is brilliant. 10/10.

Works well, with a bit of manipulating
I got this umbrella to help cut the intensity of the sun while I am gardening. With a few gotchas it works quite well. The good points:* The product is well engineered with an adjustable head band and double-folding supports so that it folds into a very small package.* The ventilation at the top under the second little umbrella works very well, much better than "vented" straw hats so my head stays as cool as possible.* The large size makes a sizeable pool of shade so that your arms and legs are shaded as well as your head if you sit rather compactly.* The fabric is opaque enough that the shade is of good quality. There is a lot of sun protection here if you can arrange yourself to take advantage of the shade it casts. The bad points:* The instructions are not written by a native speaker of American English and are not easy to understand. (However, if you remember that this is simply a modification of an umbrella it is not that hard to figure out.)* When wrapped up it is a bit too thick to stick into a pocket so it is a bit less mobile than I might like, but this is a minor nitpick. Basically it works as it is supposed to. I have found that the chin strap makes a decent handle for hanging it on my garden cart or on a hook in my garden shed.* The head band that secures the umbrella to the head is plastic. Not a great choice for something that is going to fit tightly against your skin. I sweat a lot under the headband. I am trying to figure out if I can put some sort of sweat rag under it without compromising the cling to my head. Leather or canvas might have been a better material for the band. The manipulations needed:* It is more than 37 inches wide. You do need to remember to tilt your head sideways when going through doors and gateways. The size of it also tends to make it a bit sensitive to wind movements. Be sure to make the headband tight enough to keep it in place. I wouldn't advise wearing it in very windy conditions.* I use it primarily for weeding my flower beds in the mornings. If I can sit on my little garden seat, facing into the sun, then bend over with my head tilted slightly upwards the umbrella shades my entire body. This took a little getting used to, but is well worth it. I can work much longer before the sun drives me into the house. This has given me a lot more gardening hours in what has turned out to be a very hot summer.Overall, this has been a surprisingly good purchase for something I had thought might just be an interesting novelty. I have also used it to enjoy sitting on the deck before the sun goes behind the tree in the evening. In that case, I put my back to the sun and lean my head back a bit. The shade spreads out a bit and the slight breeze coming up from the valley below makes the deck comfortable an hour earlier in the evening. It would be nice if it came in white as that would repel the sunlight a little better, but I am having a lot of fun with this little toy of mine.

Not for a windy day.
Looks great, nice material, but does not hold up against the wind.

Not suitable for all conditions.
Might be better for just sunny weather, but not good for the wind! The headband for the hat part is quite uncomfortable to deal with, and it gets annoying when i move and the ends of the umbrella latch onto something.

It is well worth the money
It stays on and is plenty big enough
