Tastes perfect. I love the smell and taste of this sweet rice tea. I think it needs to steep a bit longer than 5 minutes. This tea is so perfect to relax with before bed. I highly recommend. It’s expensive, but so good!

This genmai rice is a bit pricey, but it goes a long way. We used to be able to buy just the roasted rice and popped rice in a huge bag at our local Japanese market, but it's no longer sold. We searched and searched and finally found this. And as far as quality, it very good in that it has a large amount of popped rice mixed in with the roasted rice kernels. It's called tea, but technically, there isn't any real tea leaves included. Many products are sold as teas because some apparently brew the popped and roasted rice straight without actual green tea leaves, and it's considered a "tea" in the sense that it's a brewed beverage made by brewing roasted and popped rice. However, we use this in a more traditional way by adding it to green tea, to make genmaicha or green tea with roasted rice. Very delicious and satisfying. I deducted a star because it's a bit more pricey than how I used to buy the roasted and popped rice in bulk, but given that it's hard to find and the fact that a little goes a long way, it's still worth buying! We can highly recommend Senbird!

This is a really quality product. The rice is perfectly toasted very nutty and balanced. I personally mix it with other gen mai cha that I have to give more nutty flavor. You also can steep it up to 3x if you’re using it by itself or in infuser to add more depth to another tea. Highly recommend! SENBIRDTEA is consistent and always delivers the product you’re expecting, be it a typical tea, or a more unusual tea we don’t normally see here in the US.

I used to buy another brand of Genmaicha that tasted just like this then it was no longer available. This one tastes better than I remember the other one. The container is great and seals back up easily each time, keeping the tea fresh and easy to use. This tea has the great roasted rice flavor that I jut love! I purchase the throw away refillable teabags to use with this loose tea. I would absolutely recommend this tea!

Good quality tea, had a nice toasted, earthy finish to the brown rice. It’s a nice hearty addition to add to green tea.

I followed brewing directions and the result was hot water with little hard crunchy bits floating on top. No flavor at all…

Took some time to get used to heavy rice flavors

I can understand that tea has a mystique, and people pay a lot for the perception that they’re getting a better leaf. But this is just rice? And it’s $25 for like 10-15 cups of burnt rice tea. I was very disappointed when I opened the package and realized I paid $25 for 15 teaspoons of rice. And then refills are only available on their website, which I suppose is a way to get around Amazon’s fees.
