Great for the price and easy to set up
Thank you for reading my review on this product. I got this printer because my old one stop working and this was a great deal for the price. It was really easy to set up fits very well in my desk that has a area where the printer can fit when I was not using the it. The price quality was great for being a just plug in and download the information with the cd to your desk top. I would say this would be great for a kid room that is doing homework, a small home office or even just a back printer, just in case the main bigger one does not work. I would order again.*tip*When you load paper in the top feeder, just dont overload the paper, I would say put about half of inch in to make it work very smooth. I hope my review helps others get this product.

Excellent light weight, easy to use printer
Forget all the negative here. I'm 89 year old and been using computers since 1984. I have an HP with a drawer, (who in the world would buy a computer without one???) Anyway I had no problems using the CD to set the printer up or following the instructions to do so. The area it takes up is a third of what my old Cannon all in one did. More desktop space to use. It is light enough anyone can pick it up with ease. It is well worth the 5 stars I gave it.My only complaints are and they aren't large;(1) it doesn't ask you if you want an icon on the screen and you have to find the printer on the control panel or hard drive and tell the computer to put one there.(2) and this is the largest thing to me, it takes so long to a-line the heads. I have never had to a-line heads in any printer, so this was new but it was very time consuming although you were walked through it step by step. Along with the time, the printer had to use ink to show you the a-lineaments so you can click the various areas on the screen to set them for the best printing. I hope Cannon took this into consideration when they loaded the ink cartridges that came with it. (I did buy a second set of the XL at the time I got the computer).(3) with my arthritic hands it took a little bit to get the cartridges in, there is no latch like the other printers have so you have to push in and up till they click. As for the operation it is great, the print is clear, it doesn't take long to print (exception is the a-lineament pages) and it doesn't give you any sass. It is the next step up from the old printers we started out with that had the tape that ran back and fourth and could be loaded from the bottom so you could set an entire paper case under them.. Loved those old ones. This one to me and for me is great. I don't need nor do I like the All In Ones I find something is always not working or jamming, or taking time, or giving me sass etc. I don't print a lot, statements etc at end of month, or perhaps a picture now and then. For the kid in collage for the older person who just wants a nice SIMPLE PRINTER and doesn't need a FAX or the SCANNER coming with it, this is a fantastic step. I always have thought that you need your computer pieces separate, so that when one goes out you don't loose the fax and scanner etc. It's much more expensive to replace an All In One for home then just run out and pick up a printer or a scanner. I have used a cannon Lide scanner for years; I'm on my third one and love my extra pieces sitting on their own and not together. That said this is a fantastic little light weight work horse printer that is easy to install, easy to use, and doesn't give any sass or say it can't print, you're off line, paper jam, etc. I recommend it for people who don't need all the bells and whistles that an all in one gives (provided you can get and keep them working), and only need to print paper or a picture. I hope Cannon keeps this printer in their line up because when mine goes out, if it does, I want another one.

Not operational when needed
I really want to like this printer. However, so far, it has not print a single page that is useful for me.I bought this printer a little less that two months ago. I bought it for my daughter to use when she was away from home last month. So, as most people would do, I opened the box (which was somewhat broken upon arrival) and installed printer. I connected the printer with my daughter's computer. I did all the steps to install the driver and the software. I then tested printing. It worked properly. Later, I took it to the dorm and made sure all the connections were working. Obviously, I would expect that my daughter could print her homework when needed. But that was not the case. One day I received a call from my daughter telling me that the printer did not do anything. I went through everything that I could possibility think of. It just did not move. The lights on the printer indicated everything was ok. There was no error when trying to print. But it just did not move and did not even make a sound. I was upset but I could not do much as my daughter was not anywhere nearby. I just could not go over there and try fixing it.Later, when my daughter came home, I again connect the printer with her computer. I tested it again. It printed properly. Then, a few days ago, my daughter tried to print again. Same issue occurred. The printer did not move at all.I am beyond frustrated. I simply do not know what I can say about the printer except that it does not work.

Wrong cable
Printer seems to work OK. The only problem I encountered was the USB cable supplied by Amazon as part of the package is not the right cable. Fortunately I had a cable from a previous Canon printer that was the proper one. Otherwise the printer would have been non-operational until I acquired the proper cable.

Good enough for my needs.
It's simple enough to setup and use. The one thing I hate about this printer though, is the fact that although it is quite reasonably priced, the ink cartridges cost an arm and a leg.I think that Canon makes up for the cost by selling compatible ink cartridges at gold spot prices. The printer itself has worked out great.

Not all parts came
Simple and easy to set up. Mine did not come with a cord to connect to my computer.

A Great Simple Printer!
I LOVE this little printer!! It was SO easy to set up and took just a few minutes. I replaced my $200+ Epson Ecotank ET 2800 wireless printer because I got tired of trying to read the tiny screen and constantly losing the connection. This one uses a cord (not included) and has only two buttons- power and paper size. The ink alignment process during set up is easy and the results are prints that are crisp and dark with no streaks. I also like that I don't have to subscribe to an instant ink program (like HP) or some other online ink ordering that messes up the printer. Sometimes simpler is better. I highly recommend this printer! This $39 printer works better than any other expensive printer I've owned.
