The Yoga of the Business of Yoga
What I love about this book is that Darren shows us that the same singleness of focus that we’re cultivating in our yoga practice is exactly what we need in order to have a financially sustainable career as a yoga teacher, instead of turning us into a bunch of overstimulated P.T. Barnums wearing Shivas silkscreened onto our clothing. For example, he starts out his chapter “The Art of Spinning Plates” by reminding us that “the ego mind, according to the Yoga Sutras, is sustained by ‘thought turning’ and samadhi (ecstasy) is realized by stilling those thoughts.” And then he shows us how that kind of focus applies to productivity and project management. I bought the first edition of this book just a little before starting my yoga teaching career; six years later, I’m going through this new edition finding new things I want to try, as well as things I’m glad I did do.

A Must Have Book-The Yogi Entrepreneur
I purchased this book along with the required reading for my yoga teacher training modules. It is by far the best book and gift I could have given myself as I transition into becoming a yoga teacher. Mr. Main is intelligent, witty, humorous and has a self-deprecating way about himself that is honest and refreshing. The information, resources and his own experiences gives you the tools to become a successful teacher or for that matter anyone going into business for themselves, this book doesn't just speak to the up and coming yoga teacher, it is relatable to anyone who is ready to take the plunge into becoming a business owner/independent contractor. The information provided is invaluable, he has made the mistakes, has had the successes and shares it all. I have dog eared so many pages and went through 2 highlighters, it looks like I've had this book for years. I have told my teacher about it as she is always looking to add to her curriculum and I plan to give my classmates this book as their graduation present. I cannot thank Mr. Main enough for his gift of writing and sharing, he is gracious and kind and it is present throughout the book. I look forward to reading his other books and will continue to follow him in the years to come.

As A Yoga Teacher I Suggest This Book Often!
This is the book I wish I had known about before beginning my Yoga certification. The part of the book I think most useful is the initial discussion of why do you want to teach and what is your specialty.....I have been teaching full-time for 5 years and it took me 1/2 m career to really ask myself the questions the author poses. Once I did, choices for classes became easier, my desire to teach became stronger. Recently my cousin decided after experiencing the positive affects of Yoga after an invasive surgery that she wants to commit her retirement years to teaching yoga. But like many people who have the desire she didn't have a clue where to start....I suggested this book and she has really found it to be a great resource. She has now found a certification program she likes, and understanding of what her speciality is, and where she would like to teach.I highly recommend this book.

Nope.
Book felt rushed and was too generic. I’m super dissatisfied that the most relevant content on managing yoga business in our current environment (i.e. online/social media) is sold in a separate book.I recommend purchasing The Art and Business of Teaching Yoga by Amy Ippoloti instead. Much more robust and is organized very well. Her audiobook is phenomenal as well.

More an advertisement than a book
There was some good info in this book, but I couldn't help but feel lile I was just reading one long advertisement with how many products the author tried to push, and how he presented those products. It was literally like an infomercial at times! I also felt like the author was just trying to stall a lot, like one does when he or she is trying to fill space to reach the wordcount of an essay.

Highly Recommended
I've been a full-time yoga teacher for 9 years and have owned a studio for 5 years. The thoughts and suggestions in this book are spot-on. I'd like to add only one thing that was mentioned to me when I first started teaching full-time. Let your yoga work and your life be guided by the Yoga Sutras and it'll turn out just fine. Maybe not the way you expected, but excellent non the less. So, for those of you considering a career in yoga...or even working part-time...read this book and study the Yoga Sutras. Then move forward with no fear.

WOW! Am ready to live, and earn by my passion !
Oh my Gosh! I litterally had this book delivered, within seconds opened and started reading and have not put it down! I needed guidance and support in teaching and running a business. The first few lines, got me! I reassured me and confirmed to have confidence in the 'dual' role business and yoga teacher. Which I have always struggled with. Also my originality, authenticity in my spirituality and holistic approach is what makes my classes unique. I am the brand of my business and teachings. This is ok, and not ego its what makes my yoga so welcoming. This book spoon feeds you, and supports you. Guiding you every step of the way. To enjoy your passion, share your passion and become happy & successful in your chosen path!I was drawn to this book, if you take your last £ invest in this book. It's amazing! And up to date to!

It is a very basic book
It is a very basic book. The author has a gentle way of writing, as if in conversation. The language is accessible. The tips are quite obvious, and the author loses long, long time affirming, reaffirming and again repeating everything he said. In fact, much of the book is spreading to their work and also to sell his other book.I recommend this book to anyone who never really worked with some own business, who has never made a facebook account, or who has never been behind a site.Do not expect much from the book. He will not change their business and possibly not cause you to become rich. The techniques are basic and even obvious.
