Imprisoned for the attempted murder of her abusive husband, Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack) is thrown into a hostile and unforgiving world. She tries to stay out of trouble but quickly gets caught up in a brutal rivalry. In this award-winning Australian drama, each episode presents new challenges and the story of a different inmate or warden. "A gritty drama and mystery series rolled into one" (TV Guide).

Season 3: Amazing! DVDs: bonus features not viewable
I would give a 5+ star review considering how much I loved this season of Wentworth, but unfortunately the 4th disc with the extras was unreadable - my DVD read "error-bad disc". The bonus features are a big reason why I decided to purchase the season, since I can watch the episodes on Netflix, so I was extremely disappointed by this. I have emailed the seller to ask if there is any way that they would be willing to replace the 4th cd or send me a link to view the content some other way. Depending on their response, I will update my review accordingly. As for Wentworth, I enjoyed Seasons 1 and 2, but Season 3 is simply amazing. Can't wait for Season 4, though the wait may be a while here in the US.

I love the women and men characters with the Aussie accents
I love the women and men characters with the Aussie accents. The women are always plotting this or that. It is just unrealistic in American prisons or jails. One is if an inmate ever is released, then they will never be allowed to visit that prison again as a visitor, forever. Two, you cannot call anyone anytime you like. I could go on but our actors do not come close to their intensity of British or Australian actors and plots. I guess that is what keeps me watching their shows, what will this one do next? Good entertainment.

Much better than OITNB - great show - not for kids
A few of us bought three seasons for a friend's birthday. She does not have Netflix but after hearing us rave about it she wanted to get it. No way she could master it (I'm not kidding) She was THRILLED when she opened the package and quickly announced she no longer wanted Netflix.

Ready for more of it!
This is a very good series. I watched Season 1, 2, 3 over the holidays. Please (Acorn Media if you're listening) release the already aired seasons (4,5,6,7) on Region 1 DVD.

Third Time Lucky For Us Viewers.😊
LOVE THIS SHOW!🧡With such a large cast many of the supporting cast could easily get lost when the focus is on so many main players.Pia Miranda (lovely name) does a sterling job as Jodie Spiteri, and I only assume (read hope) that Sally-Ann Upton is not as vile as Lucy 'Juice' Gumbaro - who has no redeeming qualities (the character, not the actress).Thankfully, when sober, Liz Bridsworth is the heart of the show (played with great skill by Celia Ireland), and the inclusion of the talented Socratis Otto as transgender character Maxine Conway was realistically and sensitively written and portrayed. All involved should feel proud of a job well done.

A classic TV show from the 70's remade, but now this is becoming a classic in its own entirety.
Well, what can I say that hasn't already been written about this series, other than Australian TV is now setting a benchmark on excellent gritty action drama.I always thought this was never going to capture my undivided attention, but from Episode 1 of Season 1, this show has grown into one outstanding remake of a classic 70's favourite. It's not the same story line or light hearted in ways the original is, but that's not a bad thing, it still has all the original characters, now played by modern day actors, but keeps the elements and back stories of the original characters of the original show, but strengthens them. The acting is first class, the scripts and stories so well planned and thought out, I have been hooked and thought it can't get any better, but it does, each season finale has been better than the last and they have all been awesome, but season 3 has now proved that even though the cast is now established, the characters and friendships can be tested. I can say nothing more than complete and utter praise here for Australian TV for putting together one of its best produced exports since Fosters lager, lol. The actors, the writers, the producers, all need praise here and I cannot wait and hope season 4, is at the same level as this season and the previous ones.If you like hard hitting gritty drama and loved the likes of previous outing like "Bad Girls", "Orange is the new Black", then you must watch this, it's far superior and more enthralling. Don't catch on too late.

Wentworth best show!
Wentworth is excellent and just a good as season 2. On the edge of your seat action every episode. Danielle Cormack is awesome as Bea and makes the show and so much better getting it in blu-ray import. Season 4 just as great.

Whats not to like about this motley crew
Whats not to like about this motley crew, theres everything in this show that keeps you wanting the next episode every time. The series is brilliant and the acting superb, with everyone going the extra mile to make it happen. A big thumbs up to all concerned.

Amazing season !!!!!
Amazing season! Bea Smith is proper top dog. We see The Freak starting to loose the governor status. The last episode is epic!!! Jess gets Doreen's baby into the basement and she wanted to kill the baby. The Freak then comes and gets Doreen's baby. She then lifts up Jess by the throat and kills her! The Freak then sets the whole prison on fire to cover up killing Jess. Amazing
