Great Overall Carving Knife
This is our second carving knife purchase of the same unit. Our friends loved our first one so much, we bought them a new one as a gift. We find this knife incredibly reliable. The unit is constructed well for its intended purpose. While not ergonomically perfect, it is more than sufficient for its purpose unless it takes you hours to carve the meat, or you are purchasing the product for a different purpose (such as foam cutting). We especially like the two blade design, that many may find odd at first. Once you get used to it and use it, you will probably like it. As for the power, unless you are using it to cut down trees, we found the power more than enough- once again, for it's intended purpose. The design of the safety button is a little awkward at first. A few uses, and you will be a pro. This is one knife we will have for a long time.

Slice and Nice
I did not use an electric knife that often until I started up my upholstery hobby and now I use it all the time to cut foam. They wrok really well for this and I used to think that the more expensive product you bought the higher quality it would be but when I am using these electric knives for upholstery that does not seem to be the case. I had a bosch foam saw that was over 400.00 and it got used and abused to the poaint that it would not work anymore and I did not want to replace it by spending another 400.00 so I got 2 of these inexpensive knives and they worked just as well and worked almost as long. I could purchase 40 of these for the price of one high end saw. I use the second one for carving my festive feasts at home and they work great at that too. I would definately recommend this electric knife for its utility and cost effective features.

Piece of Junk
Have used electric carving knives for the past 40 yrs. Never had a problem carving anything. Last electric knife lasted 20 years. The blades on this knife collect meat between them and make a nice mess that gums up the works. The knives barely cut through turkey meat...even with some force. I checked to make sure the blades were attached properly as I could not believe someone could sell such a useless product. Also a problem is the safety button mechanism. You literally have to use two fingers to operate the buttons...one finger to push in on the safety button while at the same time using the other finger to "pull the trigger" to make it slice. Of course it doesn't slice anyway, so really is aggravating. Black and Decker used to make quality products. However with junk like this knife, they will be the next company wondering why they are out of business. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ITEM!!

A great knife at a great price
For the last ten years, my grandmother has asked me to carve the turkey on Thanksgiving and Christmas. But this year, we had moved away and had to spend the holidays at our new place, away from the rest of the family. And shortly before Thanksgiving, it dawned on me that I didn't have an electric carving knife. I had always used grandma's electric knife (which is older than my mother, but is still a flawless piece of equipment). So I set about researching electric knives to find the right one for me. After looking at countless knives (both online and at brick-and-mortar stores), I couldn't find the perfect knife at the price I was willing to pay. But with Thanksgiving getting closer and closer, and I decided to simply get something cheap to get me through Turkey Day, until I could find something more permanent. The funny thing is, I actually like this cheap little knife. It does what an electric knife is supposed to do. It makes clean, easy, effortless cuts. So far I have carved three turkeys, two prime rib roasts, 4 BBQed tri-tip roasts, and a leg of lamb with it. All within the last two months. And it has performed beautifully. It has nice blades that make a smooth reciprocating motion, resulting in nice, easy cuts. And the device has a simple but effective "safety lock", that offers some piece of mind. It's easy to clean and stores real well without taking up too much space. There are only two things that I would change about it: 1) The motor is in the handle of the knife, which makes the handle rather large (around), which equates to the knife feeling a little awkward in your hand. I would have much preferred the "old style" electric knife, where there is a smaller handle, that is independent of the motor housing. (similar in shape to an electric hand mixer). I find that the smaller "old style" handle gives you better control and dexterity while carving, and makes the knife easier to keep a grip on if your hands become wet or greasy/oily. Also, I would imagine, that the larger handle might be unmanageable for people with smaller hands. 2) A variable speed trigger/button. I guess I'm just spoiled from my grandmother's old knife, but the button that operated her knife was a variable speed pressure button. The further you depressed the button, the faster the knife operated. Most of the time you'll be running the knife at full speed. But there are those occasions and those special cuts that are made easier at a lower speed. Unfortunately, the trigger switch on this knife is a simple binary button. It's either on or off, meaning the knife only has one speed. Neither of these are deal breakers for me. But they are something I would have preferred in an electric knife. I know there are other brands/models out there that have those features (believe, I researched all of them). But I had my reasons for not buying each them (if you're going to pay the kind of prices they're demanding, then they better be a perfect match for you), otherwise I'd be leaving a review for them, instead of this knife. In the end, I picked this knife because I didn't like any of the other fancy knives enough to be willing to pay the prices they demanded. I purchased this knife as a temporary solution because Thanksgiving was so close. But after having used this knife on several occasions now, I have to say, I'm pretty happy with it. Especially so when you consider it's low price. The only real mark against it, is the claims made by other people of it breaking/dying too quickly. As I listed above, I have used this little knife several times now; each time with a resounding success. So I'll keep on using it, and it when it finally dies, I'll be sure to update this review with a list of how long it lasted and what jobs it was able to tackle during its lifetime. That way you can decide if it's worth your money. But considering I only spent $11 on it. I'd say I'm well on my way to getting my money's worth from it.

Cuts through upholstery foam like butter
I bought this for the purpose of cutting upholstery foam and it is fabulous. It is like cutting butter. I had spent, no exaggeration, 45 minutes to carefully cut ONE four-inch cube of foam using a bread knife, a paring knife, and scissors. And it did not come out very evenly at all. I could not imagine doing seven more of them that way (I was making fabric covered foam baby blocks). I ordered this knife on Friday evening and received it on Sunday. In 15 minutes I had opened the box, read the directions, and cut the rest of the blocks. Magic! Very easy to assemble: you simply click the blades into the handle. (If you have not used an electric knife before: the two blades are used at the same time. They go back and forth to cut the material. It's not like you have one blade and an extra. Just thought that might be a helpful clarification.) Locking switch is good for safety. I did not find the handle difficult to hold, as I saw other reviewers comment about a different brand knife, so I think this one is a good choice. The body of the knife did become quite warm during several minutes of being turned on and off every 10 seconds or so, but cooled quickly as soon as it was turned off for a longer period.I don't think that is unusual or any kind of a problem. Cutting a piece of meat, I don't think you would have it on for that long at a time anyway. My only wish is that this one came with a case. It seems wise, and more convenient, to keep the blades out of the handle for storage, but of course you want them together. For the time being I will just use the box it came in, and see if I can find something sturdier. It does have a plastic sheath for the blades so that you don't cut yourself reaching for them. Very very pleased and hope it lasts (if it doesn't I will try to update this review). Plus, it will be nice for the holiday turkey (well cleaned) but I think mainly I will be using it for this craft purpose.

Wicked sharp!
This works really well. I was surprised at how simple it was and still had solid features. The two that impressed me is the way it locks the blades in and the safety feature. The safety feature has a button that pretty much works like a gun safety does. When you push it, it pushed a plastic part through the trigger so you can't press it all the way down. Also, the blades are really sharp. So sharp in fact, that one of the guys who was cutting a turkey with it had the blade slide off the bone (it's not THAT sharp) and sliced his finger wide open. Thankfully, he didn't get any on the turkey and had gloves. It would be nice if the power chord was a few feet longer, but not a big issue.

Great for slicing homemade bread. Attaching the blades not so great.
I purchased this knife solely for slicing homemade bread. It does that very well. The only reason it gets three out of five stars is that the blades are a bit tricky to install. Other electric knives I have used in the past were rather a no brainer when it came to installing the blades. Stick the end in the slots until they go click, boom your done! Not this knife. This knife has odd shaped openings where the blades go in with little metal prongs that stick up in the way of the slots. You must be careful and pay attention to where the blades are going in and be sure they are lined up correctly or they will no go in. Other than that it is fine and gets the job done.

Excellent electric knife
This is a heavy duty excellent electric knife. Easy to use with a safety button to prevent accidentally starting the knife when you don't want to start it cutting. It is quieter than my other electric knives. Easy to use.

Great for bread
Bought this to cut crusty bread and it works great for that purpose. No more squishing loaves from holding them tight and trying to saw through... just let the knife do the work.
