El Cid and the Reconquista. Warfare in Medieval Spain 1050-149
I admit that I'found the main parts of the Cid life and not the vague consideration of his action in the Reconquista. If you have any other books concerning what I want please let me know. Best regards

Wealth of Information in a slim high quality volume
Firstly one minor quibble `El Cid' only gets a brief mention at the onset, so if it's information on this enigmatic historical character then look elsewhere. If you are however looking for a starting point on this period then this is an excellent choice. The eight colour plates of the late Angus McBride are packed with colourful detail and plate C has one of those Osprey trademark interesting diversions from the usual stalwart warriors, these are backed up by clearly produced photographs of stone reliefs, paintings and locations.Having been brought up on Charlton Heston's El Cid until I read this book I really did not have any idea how complex and colourful this period of Spain's history was or the depth of relationship with North Africa. In amongst the wealth of historical detail David Nicolle manages to insert much information as to the nature of warfare both tactical and strategic. Yes when reading this you will be left asking `Yes..but..how (or why)?' and have an itch to go looking for more information, but is that not the sign of an first-rate introduction.Well worth having for as an introduction or as a worthy addition to a military history library.
