Just buy it.
This is my first interchangeable lens I’ve ever purchased, using on a Sony A7iv and I am blown away by the quality. Everytime I step out with this thing, I never feel like the hardware is holding me back from capturing what I want. And it captures so much detail that I can basically do what I want in post editing. If you have your camera set up right, or shoot in RAW, then your colors will be accurate. The lens also communicates well with the camera for transmitting metadata as well as the autofocus being extremely fast. I don’t have anything to compare against, but again, I never feel like this lens holds me back or I’m missing the shot. Full frame zoom lens so it’s not the lightest, but the range of focal lengths you can get with a fast f2.8 aperture, I’d say it’s light enough in comparison to what you get. Bokeh is nice and creamy, and with the right lighting you can get the balls everyone likes. I highly recommend this lens to anyone who likes a “do-it-all” type of lens. It doesn’t do anything perfect but does everything very well if that makes sense. Unless you need something super specific, this lens covers a lot of bases. The photos I attached were all taken on the same day, on a Sony A7iv, through this lens, with a Kase ND8 82mm magnetic filter. All photos are edited but no color grading, only light, HSL, and some masking.

Great general purpose zoom lens
While I love primes, you can't beat the flexibility of a zoom lens for general photography. I wanted a lens that was tack sharp and had a constant aperture through the zoom range. The Sony lens in this range are a lot more expensive, but I've had good luck with Sigma lenses, so I chose the cheaper option. The first thing you notice about the Sigma is that the zoom ring rotates counterclockwise to zoom in, whereas most other brands rotate clockwise to zoom. It’s like driving in England or Japan compared to the US or Europe. You can adjust except when you have to make a really quick decision, and you turn the wrong way. The other thing you notice is that it is a hefty lens that feels very solid. I shot it for three hours at a race, and it never felt like it was too heavy. I did a “scientific” test comparing the Sigma with other lenses in my kit bag at matching focal lengths and at f/2.8 or as close as I could get. I shot a book cover using a tripod and a remote trigger. I lined things up by eye, so the book was not going to be perfectly parallel to the front of the lens. I shot inside using available light and adjusted shutter speed to keep the ISO at 100. While the primes were slightly sharper, especially in the corners, you had to pixel peep to see much difference. For normal shooting, this lens is sharp through the zoom range. I used the Sigma to shoot the Canal Corridor 100 mile endurance race at the 60-mile mark aid station. It performed very well. Previously, I’ve shot the Burning River 100 mile endurance run using the Sony A99ii and Sony 70-400mm zoom. Because of the long zoom, I found most of my shots were taken with the runners further away. With the 24-70, I was waiting until the runner filled the frame more, and I got more intimate shots. I rarely missed focus, and the shots were all sharp. The backgrounds blurred nicely. The zoom range let me get wide angle shots to capture the support crew and spectators. Overall, the lens proved to be an excellent choice. Highly recommended for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras. I haven't tried it on my APS-C camera yet, but it should be good on that.

Great lens sharp pictures and video!
Great lens at a great price. This lens is sharp and low 2.8 aperture makes it great for photos. Using it for video is also just as good or better. Would recommend this lens as a must have in any Sony shooters bag!

The perfect event / travel lens
This is a really great piece of glass. It wouldn’t feel worth it to me to spend double on native Sony glass when this exists! I love that there’s an aperture ring, it’s truly a game changer as a videographer to have a zoom lens with an aperture ring. It’s light weight, sharp, and when zoomed in to 70 mm the length is really doable - can even balance it on a gimbal. The versatility is perfect as an event and travel videographer. This lens is always in my bag.

Best Mid Range Zoom Lens for Sony E-Mount
Though I bought 3 GM lenses for my A7RV, I decided to go Sigma for my mid range zoom. I have zero regrets and this lens performs flawlessly. I shoot this lens 75% of the time. It stays on my camera body ready to go in most situations. Excellent auto focus, excellent image stabilization, excellent features, and excellent images. I wish Sigma made a 14-300mm Art series zoom. I'd buy it in a second.

Great lens BUT Amazon swapped it for cheaper lens
TL;DR - Great lens but absolutely buy elsewhere. Excellent lens. Bought it for streaming with FX-2 as part of upgrading my setup from a FX-30 with a 35mm prime. The Sigma is fast enough that I can keep my lights reasonably low and background blurry, and the zoom covers the perfect focal lengths for my primary use case as well as for photography. The problem is that someone took the lens out of the Sigma packaging and swapped it for a much cheaper Meike 85mm prime (similar size). They even switched the rear lens caps so that a quick glance wouldn’t give away the scam. Sorry, not scam - literal mail fraud. After a lengthy call with customer service, the best Amazon was willing to do was tell me to return it and wait a week for a refund (less shipping, of course, because that’s obviously fair). So unless you want to risk the same delightful experience, do not buy this from Amazon under any circumstances. The good news is the lens is the same price at B&H, and I will happily give my money to a company that a) doesn’t actively defraud buyers, and b) doesn’t expect those buyers to bear inconvenience and additional cost for the privilege of being the victim of an actual crime.

Qualità e Versatilità a portata di mano! Impeccabile!
A livello costruttivo trasmette solidità e professionalità. È il mio nuovo go-to.
