This is an excellent spice blend for the Indian dish called chana masala. I learned about it in a recent YouTube video by “Plantiful Kiki”. It is neither too hot nor too spicy, but has 14 perfectly balanced ingredients to delight every taste bud you possess. Note that it contains salt as the third ingredient. One tablespoon contains 380mg of sodium, but this blend is so bursting with flavor that I haven’t had to use more than a teaspoon of it in any dish.

It's a wonderful masala mix, but it needs two other mixes to make a good chance masala. I'm lucky I had them on hand. I would have preferred a jar or a resealable bag to the bag that it comes in, but many Indian spices come in such bags. Overall, it makes a great chance masala. The recipe is right on the box and the instructions are easy to follow. I suggest reading the back of the box and buying the extra spices if you don't keep a variety of Indian spices on hand.

Rani products are great and the channa masala is no exception. Balanced flavor and makes a great curry.

This is a good blend we would be hard-pressed to find all the ingredients to make from scratch, so well worth the purchase, and so much more affordable. We are very happy with the product and loved the way our Chana Masala turned out. The only complaint is we wish the sodium content were lower, as we are trying to follow a lower sodium diet.

Mix this spice with some dijon mustard, chives or cilantro, some plain yogurt and cooked chickpeas for a nice bean dish you can eat cold or hot. When cold I like to eat it on top of salad or as a sandwich, when hot I like to eat it on top of rice. You can dress up the dish with onions and other vegetables, or keep it very simple and just toss your cooked chickpeas with this spice for a quick side dish.

We use it in other dishes like dall and aloo gobi. It really enhances the flavor. It's a secret you can use.

Average quality and too expensive for the quantity they give.

Just made a delicious chickpea curry with this. It's restaurant quality. Actually, probably a little bit better because it's not drenched in grease! It properly captures the right fragrance and definitely isn't just another "generic" curry powder. I will buy this again and experiment with Rani's other spice blends. It's a shame they don't appear to offer dhansak/madras/vindaloo/korma as I'm sure they'd be fantastic too.
