Lacking a lot in coverage
I am normally a big Rough Guide fan and like them better than LP, but this book was pretty weak. We drove around Sicily for 10 days and visited towns both included and not included in the bookโwe found that the guide was pretty terrible when it came to comprehensiveness, in terms of describing the towns it actually covered as well as leaving out towns and areas that really should have been included. For instance, the sizeable city of Gela, which is definitely a cool place to visit, was not even mentioned in the book at all (neighboring much smaller towns were included, bafflingly). The book is useful for some things, but donโt rely on it too much.

Great overall guidebook for Sicily
Really good overall guide. Plenty of historical background and description of sites plus practical detail. We also bought the more "nerdy" Blue Guide, but this Rough Guide was almost as detailed about the main sites so the Rough Guide was by far our primary guide on our trip. We took a 9-day trip, covering Catania, Syracusa, Palermo, Erice, Roman Villa, Valley of Temples, so the more famous sites. The Blue Guide may be a better for the less famous sites, but for our "highlights" tour the Rough Guide was perfect.

Excellent resource for the independent traveler
Lots of detailed information about the regions of Sicily and how to get there by road or public transportation. Helpful in narrowing down the multitude of choices.

Typical reliable Rough Guide
Somewhat limited in descriptions of destinations but excellent coverage of restaurants and accommodation. For that Rough Guides can't be beaten and this reacheds their usual standard.

"Rough" Guide - You can count on that!
Very up to date and accurate information, well organized. Love the Rough Guides in general because they pull no punches and don't try to gloss over places where other guides are so worried about offending someone somewhere.

An Excellent Guidebook
Excellent, useful guidebook for travelers to Sicily. Provides a nice combination of what-to-see-and-do along with historical and cultural background. Highly recommended.

Broad in scope
I wanted an eguide to Sicily. There wasnโt a big choice so I settled for this one. For me the scope was too broad. This was not the fault of the guide. Ideally I wanted detailed information on locations. By its very nature this guide gives a lot of information on how to get there, where to stay, where to eat etc. None of which I needed. If you want a general guide, this is the one for you.

Don't buy it - it isn't up to date !
I visited Sicily pre-covid and bought a downloadable copy of the book but this year decided to get another hard copy. The restaurant that we always visit where the wine is supposed to be 3 euros a litre, hasn't been updated and nor is the wine still 3 euros. I paid ยฃ14.99 for this book and now I am back from my holiday the window to return it has closed. What a swiz !

A worthwhile guidebook
A good guide which proved really useful in Palermo and enabled us to travel around widely by bus and train. It had good coverage of Cefalu, Agrigento and Trapani. We followed its suggested town walks easily and found them pretty good. One omission - it failed to say that Palermo AMAT bus multi-day tickets are only available from the AMAT kiosk in Politeama.

Really useful guide, we stayed in Ragusa which had decent coverage of the tourist area but little of the wider town and there were some really good towns in the south east region that weren't covered at all. Big cities and attractions we visited in the rest of the island were well covered.
