Exactly as described
Lightweight but expand as you’d expect. Good for bioactive reptile enclosures or seed starting for the garden.

Is was ok I’m going back to the original cocoa coir.
It was ok. I didn’t like the off smell so I mixed it with some soils and added to my raised bed. I bought another on Amazon that was slightly more expensive and thought I’d try to save a few bucks. I learned. My seed starts did ok in it but my tomatoes said no. Maybe it will be better for you. It’s ok but I’m kinda picky.

Inferior on all counts!!
It has nowhere near the expansion or quality that the GRO-MED product has … it crumbles looking like dung… with a very lumpy uneven consistency…I mistakenly ordered the ten pack thinking it was Gro Med and have been sorely disappointed … It is without any NPK starter nutrients as well …To anyone who found this product acceptable you obviously never tried The Gro-Med….

A fine potting soil amendment, but pricey
I used this coir product as a replacement for peat moss in my seed starter and planter soil mixes. Once uncompressed, I found it mixed well with the other components - potting soil, perlite, and fertilizers - resulting in a lightweight and well-aerated potting mix. Breaking the compressed brick of coir apart is straightforward, similar to making a mud pie. Add 5-6 cups of warm water to the compressed brick and break it apart with your hands. Continue adding water and breaking it into smaller pieces until you achieve the desired texture. It’s a messy process and is best done outside. The biggest downside of this product is its cost. It's pricey. Each brick, approximately 55 cubic inches when compressed, expands with water to a volume of about 160-170 cubic inches based on my usage, roughly three times its compressed size. With ten bricks in a pack, the total volume is 1,600-1,700 cubic inches, or about one cubic foot. Given the small volume at this price point, it represents an extremely poor value. While I like the idea of using alternative materials to peat moss in soil mixes, and this product works very well with other amendments, the cost is too prohibitive for regular use.

THey expand well in water!
I got these coco bricks from the FunFanso store to start my seeds, since the seed starting soil is very expensive. These coco bricks come in a pack of ten, which makes them very economical. They expand very well and fast in water, especially if the water is warm. They have little nutrients, and for this reason I like to combine with seed starting soil. Overall, I am pleased with these coco bricks and I would recommend them to a friend!
