How tall is this container ? It says it’s 0.4 x 0.4 x 0.4. That seems wrong

Not sure how big around it is but I think it’s around 26”-28” tall with the lid. It holds 5 gallon of water

Hmmm. I don't know! I am always cautious when putting hot liquids in plastic containers, myself. So I have not tried.

Do you have to hold down the spigot for the liquid to flow or does it just flip up and down and work hands free to control the flow?

Have to hold it down. No hands-free. Also means less breakage of the spigot.

Can I use it for hot beverages?

I believe you can. For winter youth activities we would put really hot milk in them for hot cocoa. It also keeps your hat stuff hot for quite a while.
